It really feels like during this time of year we are always having the same conversations about the Steelers.

Its one thing to have issues with the offensive line or not being able to cover tight ends all season long but when these kinds of problems continue to happen year after year after year, you have to take a step back and look at the organization as whole and figure out why?

We have thrown high pedigree free agents at both the ILB and Offensive line positions as well as high draft picks yet we continue to have the same problems. What’s the common denominator here? Why do we keep having these same problems?

I believe w have to change our scheme and our philopshy. What else is there to change besides the whole dam coaching staff?

I read an article and they said it best:

    https://www.steelernation.com/2024/12/25/steelers-mike-tomlin-reporter-terrible

Tomlin needs to get back to just being a head coach. Thats what he is good at. We need to get legit Coordinators in here. Tomlin is not an X’s and O’s guy like we all think he is. Too often we are out schemed and out game planned when it comes to the better teams in the league.

He needs innovative Coordinators who aren’t going to be yes men and micromanaged (at least on Defense). It starts with Rooney sitting Tomlin down and forcing that change and I believe saving Tomlin from himself.

Tomlin needs to start making changes faster and stop holding onto people wether it is coordinators ,position coaches or players. The offensive line has not developed to the extent it should have. I would start with Pat Meyer and then move onto getting a new DC.

I get it the schedule was brutal but this team has too much talent to perform like it has the last three games.

The team needs to be way more fluid in its ability to make in game adjustments. It was obvious KC knew we were going to commit to stopping the run and try to put pressure on Maholmes so they resorted to a quick passing game to neutralize our rush and they didn’t bother to focus on banging their head on the wall trying to run the ball.

We did the exact opposite and never changed. Teams stack the box and we still try to run the ball. They put pressure on us and we don’t make adjustments to get the ball out quicker. No rub routes or slants or short crossing patterns to Pickens. No innovation. The difference between how innovative the routes were and how efficient KC was versus our offense was pretty drastic.

The sad thing is KC on defense is less talented than we are but they are way better coached. Its just hard to watch these games and to see the talent wasted.

The coaching on this team is awful, everyone can see that, 17 years and he still can't recognise when the WR has dropped the ball and the team is hurrying up to get a snap off...

17 years, but you know he's got that flag like his timeouts in his hip-pocket for some mythical, unknowable, event that may or may not occur, so that's always comforting.

Tomlin will never bring in someone that may challenge him for the job. Ausin is no genius either.
The organization is stagnant. Blow it up.

Figured it out yet? You mean that Tomlin sucks? Yes.

I know Tomlin doesn't suck compared to many other other coaches. He's good enough for a lot of people who seem happy just to avoid a losing season. Coaching up a team to be championship caliber? At that, Tomlin sucks. We haven't been that in a long time, and it always shows in how this team falls apart at the end of the season while championship teams are hitting their strides. Regular season paper tigers.

Allen is good but he just doesn’t hold the clipboard as effectively and damn it the team is suffering

The writer lost me with the X’s and O’s comment. It’s a truly foolish statement that’s been debunked by enough players and coaches it should have died a slow and painful death long ago.

You know what's sad about the Browns having more playoff wins? it's that they beat the Steelers in their win!

And if the Steelers had beat the Browns in that playoff game then lost in the next round, that doesn't change anything they still wouldn't be any closer to the Super Bowl.

Back your statement up. How many good offenses has Tomlin beat in the last five years with this defense? How many playoffs have we won in the last five years? If he is so great with X’s and O’s then why hasn’t he produced a coaching tree? The game plan is win the turnover battle and get to the QB. We literally have nothing outside that. Good teams scheme against that and when they do you see what happens with the last three weeks being a perfect example. If Tomlin had the answers we wouldn’t have gone through so many linebackers and offensive lineman by now. The development of these players has alot to do with scheme and coaching. If you don’t position them to succeed what is the answer? How many more bodies can we throw at the issues?
