Exactly. Well stated and very practical. I would like to add we seriously need to inject some new defensive coaching talent to get some new ideas. It gets old seeing our defense implode all the time against good offenses and QB’s. I like Tomlin as a HC and I have defended him for the most part all year but I really do think it is time for us to get a legit DC in here for some new ideas.

We seem to be at this point every year where we squeak into the playoffs and were all banged up and either our offense dreadfully underperforms or our defense dreadfully underperforms. Its like groundhog day over and over and over again. The common denominator here is indeed Tomlin. I think he brings alot of great qualities as a HC but I am not sure he brings what we need from a game day perspective wether it is game plans or half time adjustments ,etc. from an X’s and O’s perspective.

The other major issue I have Tomlin is when we have a problem it feels like it takes us forever to address that problem. Look at how long we have been monkeying around with this offensive line. KC fixed their offensive line in one offseason. Philadelphia fixed their defensive backfield in one offseason. Our problems are the same year after year after year. ILB’s can’t cover the middle of the field. The defense can’t play both the run and the pass well in the same game. We can’t stop the pass at all. Game after game after game. The offense can’t establish the run game. We have been trying for how many years now? We can’t pass block. We suck at red zone and short yardage conversions. It seems like we never have answers and when these issues go into the next season and carry on season after season that is a true reflection on the Head Coach.

At minimum these last three games showed that we aren’t at the level of the elite teams. I didn’t expect us to be. I am not disappointed in the losses. I’m disappointed in the way we have lost and the continued issues we have had that have been going on for years now that don’t seem to be getting resolved. That is alarming.

I don’t and I will never understand why we keep playing guys like Connor Heyward he is good for killing one drive a game with some stupid penalty. Or why we put Najee in when Warren is hot. It just doesn’t make any sense. At a certain point we all have to look at this objectively and say ok we have thrown how many free agents and draft picks at specific positions like the offensive line and the inside linebacker position and we seemingly still have the same stinking problems. We still struggle to cover TE’s or tackle running backs. We still struggle to pass block and run block. At a certain point these coaches have got to be held accountable. I don’t know how many more excuses we as fans can give them.

Once we reached 9 wins ... I knew that the season was over. That's our great accomplishment ... another non losing season. Can't be mad at the obvious

We were outscored 87-37 the last 3 games against teams that are very capable of winning the Superbowl. That's how far away the Steelers are from competing against the league's best teams. The Steelers belong to the second tier group like the Texans and Chargers. Teams capable of making the playoffs and maybe winning one playoff game but that is it.

This team does the same thing every year. Tomlin was given a contract extension so he isnt leaving. This franchise has became a joke of what it once was.

Imagine what Brian Flores could do with the talent on the Steelers defense, it's time to move on from Teryl Austin.

It’s not about expectations. It’s about a defensive plan or lack of one. It is the same lack of preparation. I bet Steelers are at the top of the league in giving up third and long. Last year and start of this year, TJ carried this team. He is currently for whatever reason not as effective as he once was and it’s like the defense doesn’t exist with confusion and receivers running uncovered in backfield time and again. They looked clueless on how to stop bubble screen. Tomlin should have been fired when Blake Bortles hung 48 points on them in playoffs. I got sucked in again this year knowing how the season is going to end. Shame on me.

You've been working OT since the game was on dealing with disappointment, pessimism, acceptance, expectations vs reality.

I feel like you took this one really hard.

Did anyone have the Steelers losing their last 5 games of the year?

Many coaches get fired for a season ending losing streak like the Steelers are about to put up. I don't know if the Steelers under Tomlin, Cowher, or even Knoll have lost the last 5 games of the year. HISTORY???

NO, in 1969 under 1st year head coach Chuck Knoll the Steelers won their 1st game and then proceeded to lose every game after that. Finishing with a 1-13 record. If you are wondering they finished in last place in the NFL Century Division. (Browns, Cardinals, Giants, and Steelers)

    Exactly where I had them.

My honest assessment of this team the last few years is that they just seem to be running around and trying to put out fires when putting a team together around middling to bad QB's. To me in the offseason, signing Wilson might get them one more win. So, I had them 9-8/10-7.

I think the excitement over them actually scoring TD's on offense this year stirred the masses into believing this team is a legitimate contender. They are not. They are mid pack and will stumble into the playoffs.

Tomlin apologists can suck it. He needs to hire a competent, forward thinking defensive coordinator and keep his damn hands out of the mixing bowl. This passive bull**** when trying to play upper echelon QB's isn't getting it done. Yes, I know. Great QB"s will exploit the blitz, but not every time. I'm sick of watching Mahomes, Allen and Brady stand back there and shred Tomlin's defense if Watt and Highsmith don't get home. Other, supposedly lesser teams gave KC fits this year. Why couldn't the Steelers, at home? And Porter, Jr. being out? So What? He's been playing like smashed sh!t anyway.

I thought 7-8 wins. I'm an NFL fan who thinks game are decided in the trenches. Had zero faith in our O-line. When my family predicted the individual games at start of season we all had the last 3 as loses.

If and it's a big if we can get better on the line and get another good wide receiver Wilson will be a good QB for us next season. Then our D will have a problem as it's two biggest starts are growing NFL old.

I think we are going to Buffalo and get an ass kicking in Playoffs.

As for going into Playoffs on a 4 game losing streak, so what, we went in last season on a 3 game winning streak.

Ooh look what's on TV it's the Pittsburgh Steelers annual season movie.

Same script every year, I give them credit for at least getting to 10 wins, but they'll need to beat the Texans to appease me after the utter embarassments we've had against the Stains and Dallas, and that absolute no show last night. The team is poorly coached there's no denying that, every single ****ing week the team comes out asleep. The online is terrible and deserves it's fair share of blame for ther sacks, alongside RW whose internal clock has completely gone.

We have at least learned that Fields and Wilson are not the answer. Fields is a good backup, Wilson won't beat any of the big QB's in the biggest games (he's been awful the last 3 weeks) - like it or not he is nowhere near the level of Mahomes, Allen, Burrows and (puke) Jackson.

Just like in days gone by, we need a QB who can carry the coaching over the line.

    I like that prospective.
Here's my disappointment. 'It looked like the Steelers are actually better than I thought.'

You hot some points on the weak spots. It's true.
I'd add QB. There's not a QB on this roster I like at all. I think if we address those area mentioned, I do think Wilson can pilot the ship though.
