    This.

Same thoughts I had. If anything, should Russ's play continue to falter like this?! It is fair to say if the Steelers would give Russ the money he wants. If he loses in the playoffs?!?!.....

... that would make for a very intriguing discussion.

I don't see the Vikings letting Darnold get out of MN with the way he has performed this season. I also don't see McCarthy being a legit starting caliber NFL QB. Why he was a 1st rounder is/was a head scratcher to me. Seems like Mason Rudolph 2.0 to me.

Agree with the second. The first will be interesting to see how they handle that with JJ.

He’s had a great year but you know teams with counter with it being a small sample size in comparison to his whole career to try and negotiate a lesser deal. We’ll find out who blinks first.

his PRICE goes down w each loss.....and a first round playoff loss would keep the price very MODEST

a win (or 2) would jack it up considerably.....

I agree, but never underestimate how desperate some GM will be for a QB.
Remember Jake Delhome? Would be kind of hilarious if he ends up back in the same stadium, but with the Giants this time.

I would sign Russ to--- but only if he does something in playoffs...If not draft a kid or get another FA ...you might as well.

Let him wait and learn. If somehow the Vikings go to the Super Bowl with Darnold who care about the draft pick.

Thats a big “if”. You know teams arent that flippant about draft picks, especially first round capital.

Wouldnt surprise me if they let Darnold walk.

Darnold is going to get more than that.

Probably but my point was I wouldn’t pay that much for Wilson.

They would gladly part with a first rd pick for a Super Bowl.

Of course they would but you say that like it’s a forgone conclusion. Far from it and thats what the Vikings have to decide on.

Two reasons I think Darnold stays, McCarthy was already going to be a project, as he was easily the most raw QB in the draft, and he got zero experience this year.

It's highly unlikely that he'd step in next year and give them anywhere near the chance that Darnold would. I think he will be franchised at minimum.

And for Darnold, he'll make a big chunk of change, and it's a chance to prove he's worthy of a big contract in the future.

Also, word is that Darnold loves playing for Kevin O’Connell, who looks like he could be in Min for the forseeable future.

I said “if somehow they win the Super Bowl “
All I’m saying is that if that happens they would be happy with that trade off?

I don't think the Vikings will put all their faith in Darnold. As we have seen before in the NFL, one good season does not always equate to always good. Vikings have to be careful with this decision. He has sucked in the past.

I understand that but Im talking about the upcoming decision they have to make. I dont think it’s an easy one considering as most have implied it will be a big contract and probably more than 3 years.
