How many sh!tty coordinators do we have to endure before Tomlin gets held accountable for his inability to hire or properly use the O talent? Same story, different year.

it's Mike Tomlin channeling his OC gameplan, that is all it is.

I know you struggle with rudimentary tasks, but my comment had nothing to do with the head coach. At least try and do better.

FYI rudimentary is a synonym for simple. Hate to see you struggle

I feel like the biggest hole in our game on offense is the lack of use in the middle of the field.

Reading through the comments here, could the problem be as simple as physics? If Wilson is 5'11 and most of the defenders in his face are 6'2 and bigger, it's going to create additional difficulty seeing and passing to the middle of the field. That leads to reduced usage of all those guys that are normally running around the middle of the field such as tight ends. That is going to affect the play calling.

So it might not be as much of a complete failure on the OC's part as it is a limitation that the OC has to work around.

That is part of the problem. Look at the game against Philly, pretty sure Wilson had 5 balls batted at the los. You also have to pay attention to what the defense is doing. Are they playing middle of field open or closed? Cover 2= middle of field open
single High safety= middle of field closed
steeler fans also have to remember while muth is a good tight end he is not Hernandez, kelce…

I bet Ben Johnson takes a HC where he will have a franchise QB.

Arthur Smith is not the damn problem. The Steelers offense is light years ahead of where it was last year... playcalling, rushing and passing. The problem has been and will continue to be the OFFENSIVE LINE. Until, there's consistency from the OL.... execution of plays, especially on 3rd down are gonna be problematic. And losing our #1 WR doesn't help matters any. QB play has been optimal from both Fields and Wilson.... so people need to STFU about QB and OC.... and start whining about the O line.

I'm not saying I want Smith fired but running on first and second downs is too predictable and conservative, one of the reasons the team ends up in a lot of 3rd and longs. They need to throw more on the early downs to help the running game.

Just because you’ve been watching, doesn’t mean you understand. That is perfectly illustrated by the lack of any insight in your posts and by your relentless claims of football genius. A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks because he has to say something. Stop being a fool

And they started to run the ball pretty good but them throwing on early downs isn't the norm.

I noticed that this week, especially early, he did seem to take advantage of his reputation of running 90% of the time on 1st and 2nd down with PA.

Personally, I don't mind pounding the ball early and often if it pays dividends later. Whether it's through subverting tendencies or just a tactic to wear out another team physically later in the game.

I don't know the exact numbers but they have scored considerably more points in the 2nd half this year and are 12th in points scored.

Point is, I don't knot that there's zero benefit to pounding your head against the wall early in games.

Yeah, that's why I said that they may have gotten a boost by subverting their normal tendencies on 1st and 2nd down. That maybe running the ball without apparent benefit so often does pay off in other ways.

Nothing wrong with Smith. Tomlin is the real problem. We all know that.
