Austin is a player on the rise, but when he’s your #1 you’ve got problems. I do think he’s becoming a very good slot guy/#3 though.

That's two weeks in a row Austin has led the team in receiving.

He has become the de facto #1 WR since Pickens is out.

    Finally doing his job

So yes people including myself have noticed his shortcomings until the last two weeks

But the last two weeks also doesn’t give any of us amnesia from the rest of his portfolio

You don't know ball like you expect a #3 WR to put up big numbers in this offense, he can't throw the ball to himself

I don’t expect a #3 receiver to put up big numbers and he is at best a #3 so far

If he wants more catches than he needs to get open more often

He is not in the top 100 in the NFL in receptions that puts him in number 4 range

It’s not like he has good receivers in front of him

    These are the unimpressive facts

Next year if/when we get a number 2 receiver based on his production so far CAIII goes to the bench

Great for Austin III well deserved.

I was hoping at the beginning of the season that they would use him more. He has shown to be a solid #3.

Yes this is the second time this season that he has won the award. At 5'7" and 160 lbs he is one scrappy little guy.

He is signed through the 25 season

I would not be surprised if they offer him an extension and I would not be surprised if he waits for FA

I would guess if they made him a modest offer, that he would not refuse. He has had a choppy start to his career - if Russ is ink'd 2+ years, why not stay with Russ? He and Austin are getting a little bit of a rhythm.

IMO he is a tweener ..Not good enough to beat double coverage to be a #1 or #2 on the outside .. Doesn't seem to understand the holes in the zones or when to accelerate or when to slow down from the slot..

IMO the team needs to put him in a spot and leave him there moving him around is slowing his development..
