Visions of the past? Hines, Plax, and Randel El now that we lost our "young money" guys?

Fun to think of that but it obviously would not happen (although I would still argue that a group of Brown/Plax/Cotch/Ward/Randel El would be better than what we had last year for the simple reason that they all bring experience and different skills. You don't need to be fast to be good)

I actually think it is good that we blew up our "young money" guys because they simple did not produce points when they were the top three (we stopped being good in this area really when they benched Ward halfway through the season two years ago).

Call me crazy, as I may be, but if I were the GM (and there is reason why im not), I would strongly consider trading DOWN, even perhaps out of the first round to get more picks. More picks means more players, and more players means greater chance of finding gems. All of the "young money" guys were mid-round picks, so we can clearly find suitable players later in the draft. And honestly, most of the first rounders in the Tomlin era have not played up to a first rounders capabilities. Compare Tomlins first rounders to Cowhers, and there are potential hall of famers in Cowhers (Ben and Troy, toss in Hines as a 3rd), and zero under Tomlin.

I think Cowher was around a little bit longer than Tomlin has been but if you want to compare the two already.......

I disagree with just about everything you've written, I'm afraid - except the bit about trading down - but this claim in particular I'll single out. Yes, we found Sanders and Brown in the 3rd and 6th round. Who else have we found there? Willie Reid? I made this point in another thread - we can't assume that given enough picks we'll automatically find great receivers.

Any more than bringing back retired players will automatically mean they are as good as our best memories of them.
