That was my point they were loaded with talent but were stuck in the AFC having to get by Brady, Manning and Big Ben. They never could do it.

My point is that, with those owners, they'll never get there. It's not the other teams QBs. They had another group that was pretty talented known as "Air Coryell". Klein wasn't a much better owner than Spanos and they never had a good enough defense.

Yeah, this building on next season has to many variables. Unless you have a younger franchise QB you can build around. That ain't the Steelers. Wilson can win for sure but he will not make us SB contender IMO. Our D has two greats that are aging. And just when you think your team is built for a SB run stupid injuries can derail it.

At what point will this start getting old? It just seems like there's ALWAYS a built-in-crutch for Mike Dumblin to lose, and it has to stop. Look at the past...it's always been someone's fault that he can't win in the postseason i.e., "it's Cowher's fault, it's Ben's fault, it the owners fault, it's the GM's fault, it's the OC or the DC's fault, it's the fan's fault, it's the cities fault, it's the players fault, it's the refs fault, it's all because of injuries, etc, etc, etc"...at some point, we have to start holding Dumblin accountable.

Too much talk, too much rah-rah, too much self-loathing, to much using "non-losing" seasons as COLLATERAL against Championships, too many excuses, and not enough Championships. Blah, blah, blah, some think Dumblin is some "great" coach, but is he? All the talent, all the resources, all front office support...yet only 1 SB. Ask yourselves an easy question...Dumblin has been cashing PAYCHECK after PAYCHECK after PAYCHECK since '07 from the organization, but have the Steelers received the correct amount of RETURN ON INVESTMENT? No, hell no!

Go ahead and keep blaming injuries, but you're simply COPING for Mike Dumblin's deficiencies! Our organization is stuck in the mud, IMHO...just can't figure out why losing is acceptable for so many of you! If we get bounced out of the playoffs early again, some folks need to take a step back look at the BIG picture for a minute, that's for damn sure...being cool & talking sh!t on Hard Knocks does NOT win SB's! Dumblin is indebted to the team, the players, the city, the fans, and most importantly, he's indebted to HIMSELF! All I know is, this franchise is starving for a SB...and so are SOME of the fans! As for others, I believe they're followers, not fans!

we can forget the next season talk, for now.

this roster will have a serious re-do.

the AFC is not a juggernaut, THIS year. it is not always this soft. there is a path, if Pickens and Watt can get healthy. Tomlin coaching is always a concern. and of most concern is our lack of a running attack. I really thought, out of all things, that would be stronger this year.

    we digressed......

it is not a HE - it is a TEAM. his TEAM fluttered and his coaches failed him. Did you watch the game?

Zay fumbled going in to make it a 3pt game early in the 4th, plus a dump personal foul. They SHUT down the Chiefs for the most part , after the 1st Q. Yes - the O did not keep up their end of the bargain, and Lamar is some to blame, but so is dummy Harbaugh - he always get out-coached, like our Genius - and Reid and Co. will show that again as we go further into the season.

PLUS - they do have the NEW GOAT.

It was Lamar throwing those inaccurate passes not the team.

keeping my HOPES high for a :steelflag:AFC North Championship Saturday. Why would you not.Gauranteed home game in playoffs. Be realistic we probably will beat Bengals but the Chiefs on Christmas. Doubt it.Better hope we get it Saturday or it will probably be a long Wild Card run to get where we want.:towel:

Counting offense and defense, how many players on this team have a valid argument at this time for HoF consideration?

    2 maybe 3.
Russell Wilson, TJ Watt, and Maybe Heyward.

I count Russ, TJ, Cam, and Minkah. Not first ballot shoe-in locks, asking how many will get consideration if they walk away today. Add in a HoF HC and I come up with 5.

If we keep improving to the level of last season to this season to next season, this is a very successful season. Next season we should be deep playoff contenders.

It was their DUMB OC calling them, Lamar should have been RUNNING like the wind - and they should have been running more or throwing short in general

Blame Monkin and Hardballs and coaching too.

    Grow up man, come on.......

game planning and POOR coaching - Hardball PANICKED in the 2nd half

I could see Wilson. He kicked some ass in his prime. Say we have him 2-3 years, how does he go in? As a Seahawk? I'm sure there are players in the HOF who played on more then 1 team. TBH, I don't follow HOF inductions. Just happy when a Steeler gets in.

They only surpassed expectations if you thought they were going to stink. If they were going to be decent, that was always going to include a fast start because the first half of the schedule was much easier. They could easily end up 10-7 and a wild card stumbling into the playoffs with four consecutive losses.

They could indeed. If you go to the prediction thread you will see I posted a 13-0 start and losing the final 4 games to end up 13-4. The season was not easy but it was easier than we have it right now.

Yeah....take the ball out of the hand of the guy who just won the MVP. LoL. Sad if that's how they have to win , and shows He shouldn't have won it.
