    As per Ed Bouchette:

James Harrison has drawn little interest on the free market. Why both he, and the #Steelers look bad in this deal:It’s become clear that Harrison will not see anything near the $6.57 million he was to make in salary with the Steelers this year, but then the Steelers were unwilling to pay that either. What they were willing to pay is anyone’s guess at this point – there was one report they wanted Harrison to take a 30 percent paycut and Harrison refused.
Unless Harrison gets absolutely no offers elsewhere, he’s unlikely to return to the Steelers, even if their final offer was more than what he might make elsewhere.
    It's called p-r-i-d-e.
So Harrison loses money, and the Steelers lose a player they needed.

The Steelers don't look bad. They look smart.

Let's be honest: we all like JH's style, but he has been less than productive last couple of seasons. We are measuring him with his potential replacement (Worilds) to whom he is far superior, but we should measure him to his old self, and he's clearly not the same. Will we miss him? Well, I think we missed him (the old JH from 2008) last season too.

I won't be surprised if the Pats or Ravens call him, and he accepts a deal (even if it's far south of what he was offered by the Steelers).
Arizona and Miami could be options for him too.

there is no way the Steelers look bad in this. they asked and aging player to take a pay cut who production has started to fall. he refused and they cut him.

i say the Steelers need to make those tough decisions with a few more players on the roster.

:this!: Not making these tough decisions in the past has put us in our current situation.

He might eat some humble pie and come back. I wonder if steelers would still offer him a contract?

Yeah, I too missed the part where they "look(ed) bad in this deal." ??

It's not really a matter of pride if your lack of interest in your own player is validated by the rest of the league. 92 should have his agent make sure that 30% reduction is still on the table and return to where he's loved. Give him a chance to compete with Worilds for the starting spot in Latrobe. Perhaps the "it's this or drive a bus" mode will return him to previous form.

I'm guessing 92 winds up in Arizona. It's where he is right now (trains there in the offseason).

NFL network is still reporting that he wants to play for the ravens. Surely the ravens can't pay him 6 mill a year either, I can't see him giving the ravens a discount when he wouldn't give the steelers one. If he does go to the ravens for cheap, what a slap in the face that will be.

He may be drawing very little interest right now but there is no doubt he will land starting job some where.
As soon as camp starts and the OLB position opens on a team due to injury, his phone will be among the first to ring.
It may be a big difference in pay but he aint going back to being a bus driver any time soon.

He was cut for a reason - several reasons, in fact. JH may get signed but not for what he thinks he is worth. I said that in another thread and a few posters came at me swinging from both of Harrison's nuts. I dont expect James to be much of a factor anywhere he ends up. This day comes for every player.

I'm pretty sure he was cut for only one reason. I expect James to be a factor wherever he winds up. He was a factor here just last year, and he was all banged up. Unless he gets hurt between now and September, he will be healthier next year than he was in 2012.

Keep an eye on 'em, J. Gonna be a huge year in the desert. This is the year to lay down some coin on 'em.

They're not popular in the Burgh 'cause of all the Todd Graham stuff, but their offense is going to be insane in the membrane -- yes, insane in the brain. Might be putting up over 40 a game. Just put 62 on Navy in the Insight Bowl and basically took a knee the entire second half.

Keep an eye on Will Sutton. Will be the top defensive lineman in the draft next April. B - E - A - S - T.

I'm saying James will be a Raven as soon as Ed Reed signs either there or somewhere else.

Let's not forget as well, though, that after Porter left there were very similar thoughts about Harrison - who at that point was older than Worilds is now, and had been pretty much a career back up to that point.

Worilds is in a much better position to take over the position than JH was when he did, I would argue.

He's younger and has had more success at his current age than Harrison had at that point. But Harrison was already a beast in a way that Worilds is not and never will be.

Still, I don't think anyone's giving Worilds enough credit. A lot are acting like we need one of these top pass rushers in the first round this year to rescue us. Even if we land a good one, he probably won't see the field much this year. I'm excited to see what Worilds does with an offseason of #1 reps.

James has to realize that he is what he is, a 35 year old linebacker who has had SIGNIFICANT back and knee issues over the last couple of years. The Steelers made the RIGHT decision, as they usually do. And as for him continuing to pitch himself to the Ratbirds, screw it if that's what he wants. From my perspective, his Steeler legacy will be tarnished in a sense if he puts on that pathetic purple uniform. Sign with them if that's what you want James. You'll have to face us twice next year and I hope that DeCastro or Pouncey pancake your sorry purple butt!

Guess we will have to wait and see. BTW, what do you think is a fair price for a 35 year old busted up 3-4 OLB former DPOY? Clearly $6.5M is too high but do you think a 1 year contract for $3M is ballpark or does he still command more than that?

Apparently, James thinks he's worth more than that if we asked him to take a 30% pay cut, which would have had him still making around $4.55 million if my math is right.

For us, I would make that deal, yeah. He says he's currently healthier than he's been since 2009, and I believe that. His body was a comedy of errors last year, but it was getting better as time went by, and now he'll have an offseason to rest and get his strength back. And he was still good. He'll be at least as good in 2013, possibly better.

Too bad in reality, he'd probably be going against Mike Adams...
