Dulac likes to think he is in "the know" but the truth is that he almost always wrong. There are certain players the steelers keep, and HOF 'ers high on their list.

Watt is signed through 2025. They will tear up his last year before the 2025 season starts and add 2 years bringing the cap hit down with an out on the last year. His last contract he made a Brinks Load so I can see a smaller cap friendly deal.

Herbig is signed through 2026. A contract extension should be in order in 2025.

Highsmith is signed through 2027. A contract extension in 2026.

TJ Watt is still playing at a very high level. He's just not having the big splash plays this year because more people are paying attention to him. He is still very highly ranked in the defensive player of the year running. Last I looked he was number one on the list.

The other thing that people have to think about is don't compare TJ Watt to TJ Watt. Compare TJ Watt to every other defensive guy in the league. Even at a reduced performance level, TJ Watt is still better than most of the other players.

yes = he is CLUELESS, as was shown no more clearly than last offseason.

    he got exactly NOTHING right.

they will restructure some guys - TJ being one perhaps.

Minkah is going to have a hard meeting in the offseason.....

I believe TJ Watt is on the Cam Heyward track, but there aren't many edges that can play 14-15 years.

I think the debate in the organization will be more on herbig's vs Highsmith. TJ is not going anywhere, but it will be hard to keep all 3, that decision will be made after 25 season so just enjoy the show.

TJ Watt has endorsements. He doesn't really need a fat contract anymore. I can see him going the Brady route and signing a cap friendly deal so Steelers can sign other FAs.

Only if we start winning playoff games. That and the ring are his last goals. He doesn’t want to retrace the path of TJ. He wants to do better

I hope so. I only get to see the image that's projected on TV or in the occasional podcast, but the entire Watt family seems like a good group of people. So it's very possible he'll do something like that. But, sometimes people lose their minds over money.

Maybe the Rooney's could pay him to endorse their stadium or something like that. Make a couple commercials. Think that would pass the smell test? Lol

Even if he commands a high salary, there is no reason for him not to be in our plans. I think our plan is to keep Wilson around for a few more years and try to win it all in that span.... Hard to do that without Watt.

9.5 sacks in 13 games isn't what we're used to out of TJ, but it also is still really good considering how offenses gameplan the whole week to keep TJ from ruining their whole week. The reason why we are the #1 defense at creating turnovers is because of Watt (others too, but he's the biggest reason since he has 5 FF and 2 FR himself. He has the same number of FF in 13 games this year as he had in the previous 2 years in 27 games). TJ is creating turnovers at a high rate and our pressure is causing QB's to throw picks. If we want to win in the post season, we HAVE to keep doing that.

If we are serious about making a run at winning SB's over the next 3-4 years... Watt is in the plans. If we prefer to go for a true rebuild, then no, he shouldn't be. Nothing more to say about it.

    I mean....

Gerry Dulac must've forgotten the last Steelers DPOY HOF player they didn't extend. Boy oh boy did that bite the Steelers in the ass in the subsequent years to follow. I seriously doubt that T.J. Watt is going anywhere anytime soon... if ever.

I'd suspect he is going to retire a Steeler.
