If the Jaguars had immediately responded with a touchdown, that might hold up. They didn't. That touchdown to bring the lead back to 14 was almost a full quarter of game time after the Steelers pulled within seven.

Also, you both seem to be forgetting that those weren't just taking advantage of a prevent defense. Two or three of those touchdowns by the Steelers were spectacular individual efforts.

    OR

we could say - as was stated - that the Jags stopped with the PREVENT Defense when it got close and played regular - and we got stifled then and there.

    we sucked that day.

the ENTIRE STAFF should have been canned that day.

the Killer B's were on the field. and we got out coached, out muscled, our asses whipped! BY BLAKE BORTLES! Let that sink in! AGAIN!

The Steelers definitely played poorly. I'm not disputing that. I am disputing the notion that the entire game was garbage time. That simply is not true.

Do You actually watch , or do You forget that they lost the AFC Championship to a questionable call to NE(imagine that), and still only lost by 4.

Nope. Maybe the part of the fourth quarter once the lead was back to 14.

A seven-point game early in the third quarter is not garbage time. A seven-point game early in the fourth quarter is not garbage time.

You and I have a completely different feeling about that game. My feeling was that it was over at 21-0 and turned out it was. Did I root and hope they could overcome it, of course but I knew that game was done at 21-0 and the scores that came after was fools gold.

The Steelers led the Bengals by 17 in the fourth quarter two weeks ago and that game was anything but over. The Steelers were one ugly defensive screw-up away from Burrow having the ball with over a minute to drive for the game-winning touchdown. The Jags only led the Steelers by seven in the third quarter of that playoff game and they had momentum. The Jags did regain control much later in the game, but no, it clearly was not over at 21-0.

Clearly was over at 21-0 because they lost. I’m not impressed by teams closing the gap only to fall short.

Like I said different feeling. To me the Jags were in full control of that game, it was never in doubt, not even when closed to 7 because they did exactly what I thought they would do, start trying again and widen the gap.

The score of games often do not tell the true story, that again is what Mike is alluding to by stats without context. Game was never close but you are entitled to feel otherwise but the fact that you compared the Jags to the Cincy game tells me you misread that game completely.

So many posters think they know who should be playing and how based on 3 hours of minimal view TV each week over what the professional coaches see day in and day out in person for months on end

Nobody is doubting You , or anyone thought it was done, but just like the game day thread here almost every week......More than a few someone's have said the game was done, and We ended up winning. If we had lost as many games as people said this year were done.....we probably would only have 5 , or 6 wins.....So I don't doubt many people thought so......I myself knowing that we have done so before, and have seen even worse before, never once thought it was over till the last seconds ticked off.

Worst thing was many didn't even judge Him by that....they judged Him from basically one bad year in Denver. Yet wanted the other Qb that had 3 bad years in Chicago.....without even once seeing Wilson play one game here.....they already had decided He wouldn't be good. That's what was making me upset. I was like at least let's see.

But you are discounting that the team was 4-2 with Fields. If it were just out of the gate on who should start, I think the general consensus on who it should be would have been different.

Tomlin has himself to blame for the media circus because he could have squashed it day 1 by saying Wilson is the starter and will take over when he is healthy. But each week he refused to do that leaving it up in the air who the starter would be to the point that the media was asking Fields does it bother him that Tomlin won’t name him the starter.

That post tells me that you misread both that playoff loss to the Jags and the victory over the Bengals. The defense had been struggling all game against the Bengals, so that rally was easy to see coming. The only reason the Bengals didn't come all the way back and win it is the Steelers' offense made a couple of clutch third-down pass to Jefferson and the run by Fields. Both of those were courtesy of huge screw ups by Bengals' rookie cornerback.

Teams start like crap and battle back to win games, especially when they have the offensive talent the Steelers had with Roethlisberger, Brown, and Bell. The Steelers scored the only points of the third quarter in that game. Yes, the defense played poorly overall in that game, but the Jags built their halftime lead on a couple of boneheaded turnovers by Roethlisberger. The Steelers then scored on consecutive drives, one right before the half and their first possession in the third quarter. They had all the momentum and a seven-point deficit. They had a great shot at that game until they failed on a fourth-and-one.

True, I felt like Wilson was the starter and would take over once healed too. Fields did his job holding down the fort until the wliey vet, Russ returned. I wanted to see what Russ could do since he was in 2 SBs, winning one, and was hoping he wasn't washed.
