Not playing the Ravens, Bills, or Chiefs the first week of the playoffs will be huge.

After Steelers beat Ravens, they may fall behind Chargers, setting them against the 3 seed. Which as of now is Pittsburgh.

Get over that hump and the. Do something.

After doing the playoff machine even if the Steelers lose their final 4 games they will be the #6 seed and play at Baltimore in round one. If the Steelers only win is the last game against the Bengals the result is the same, #6 seed against the Ravens. If the Steelers win 2 of their last 4 games then they win the division no matter which 2 teams they beat. If the only team we beat is the Ravens then we still win the division.

You can get a scenario where the Bills/Steelers both lose vs Phi/Det, But end up tied at 13-4, where the Bills win the #2 seed, I'm sure based on Strength of Victory. Same is true if they both win on Sunday and tie at 14-3. SOV might favor the Steelers, but they haven't 'clinched' it.

Which is highly unlikely against the Eagles.

We’ll see. So far in his career Herbert hasn’t been his best in big situations. Their defense is certainly a concern though. Still rather face Nix though.

Cincinnati after last night’s win over Dallas still has some hope to get in or at least take it until the final week against the Steelers on January 5th.

Cincy who is currently 5-8 has at Tenn, Cleveland at home, and Denver at home then finish up of course at the Steelers.

The Broncos who are currently 8-5 have Indy this week at home then at the Chargers, at Cincy and finish up with KC at home.

The Colts who are 6-7 currently have at Denver this week, Tennessee at home, at the Giants, and finish up at home with the Jags.

Miami who is currently 6-7 has at Houston this week, San Francisco at home, at Cleveland, and at the Jets to finish up.

So all Cincy needs at this point to be in this thing the last week is to win their next 3 games at Tenn and with the Browns and Broncos at home and get to 8-8. Have Denver beat Indy this week and then lose out, and have both the Colts and Miami lose 2 of their remaining 4 games. It’s a long shot for sure but it’s not impossible to suggest that the Bengals could still be alive coming into Pittsburgh for that 7th seed that final week of the season. And the way Joe Burrow has played this year you don’t want him anywhere near the playoffs and playing him as the 7 seed. So while the Bengals still have a lot of work to do to get in they aren’t completely out of it just yet like we thought last week after the Steelers beat them.

I agree. I think we'd have a better shot with the Ravens at home. Have a feeling Herbert will pick us apart and Russ will be under duress all day.

I did my honest playoff scenario yesterday.

NFC : Wilcard: WAS vs PHI, GB vs SEA, MIN vs TAM

DIV : GB vs DET, MIN vs PHI

NFCCC: PHI vs DET= PHI wins unfortunately

AFC: Wildcard: DEN vs BUF, LAC vs PIT, BAL vs HOU

DIV: LAC vs KC, BAL vs BUF

    AFCCC: BUF vs KC= BUF

SB: BUF vs PHI= BUF wins SB

According to this, right now in the strength of victory, the opponents of the teams that the Bills won have 59 vs 53 for the steelers. But if next week both have the same result and after both won their last 3 games, the steelers will have the edge because the opponents of the steelers are much better and the strength of victory will become higher for the steelers

    For the pessimists out there.

Suppose the Steelers drop the next 3 vs Phi, Balt and KC. As long as they beat Cincy at home in the last game. They will win the Division unless Balt wins out @NYG, @ HOU and Cle at home.

Even in the worst case, the Steelers still have a stong hold on the division.

Not sure how possible it is, but the NFL script writers are probably hoping for a Steelers Broncos game, just for the juicy Wilson vs his former team storyline that they missed out on earlier this season.

He got clocked pretty hard against the Rams - but the kid is the real deal and is very tough, I don't see that taking him out of his game.

The GP injury is really clouding things up. We pulled out a W at home vs a ****ty Browns team. We will not be beating teams like Philly Baltimore or KC without him he is too important to our passing offense. You will need to score points in those games. I know we have Lamar and the Ravens number right now but at some point the law of averages will take over and they will score upper 20s or 30.

Steelers control their own destiny. 1 win in any of the last 4 games and they're in. Win vs Balt and the Steelers clinch the division before Christmas.

Yes, if Pittsburgh wins or ties @ Philadelphia we’re in…or we’d need “both” Indianapolis and Miami to lose or tie. We’ve got 2 clinching scenarios in week 15.

If Indy wins at Denver it makes for a very interesting last few games- Indy 1 game behind Denver, but holding the ultimate tie-breaker- head to head.
    Indy's last 3 opponents are a combined 8-31. Denver's are 25-14.

If the Colts or Dolphins win this week, the Steelers are going to need to win one more just to get in. The schedule is very easy for both of those teams after this week.

As things stand now, it looks like we are going to play either the Bills, Ravens, Texans, Broncos or the Chargers. I think that the Chargers and broncos are surging right now. The Texans are muddling along. The Ravens have stumbled a little. And the bills have a superb offense and a not-so-great defense.

Of all those teams, the Texans would probably be the best matchup for a Steelers victory in the opening round......imo

And, it is realistically improbable, but mathematically possible that the Steelers could get a first round bye. We have to win out, and there would have to be some losses from the two teams above us. But it's a possibility.
