Yacht Rock documentary on HBO/Max

There’s a local band named yacht rock revue that has gone from a gimmicky bar band to playing stadiums.

 

I don't know anything about this show, and I don't know if what I'm going to say has anything to do with it,,but.....I played with a bass player in a band that used to play in a band that just played cruise ships , and He said it was a great gig for a few years.

 

I watched but not my type music.

 

Some of it is good others are boring and repetitious. I do like the preppy narrative guy on the Sirius/XM Yacht Rock channel who talks periodically between tunes and says things like "If Yacht Rock music was any smoother, you'd have to change your Khakis!"

 

I just looked up Yacht Rock, and there is a lot of great tunes on this list.
I would bet money You have listened to many of them more than once, and probably sang along with them

Having spent my career on yachts i will say that we listened to all this music but, with heavy doses of Van Halen, the Stones, Rush and, of course, Jimmy Buffett!

 

I'm mainly a Metal, or Bluegrass guy, but I like all of the music I've seen listed as Yacht rock.

 

Soft rock not for me. It's like Dust in the Wind. Drives me crazy.

 

Dust In the wind has some great guitar playing in it.

 

I use to get so PO'd when our local rock station would play it. That song and Summer Breeze top 10 hated. I'm not a musician so wouldn't notice guitar work.
