That’s how it was in Noll’s era in the 70s. I’m not sure if he ever won it, but he did have 4 super Bowls.

It will be tough for Tomlin to overcome that Cleveland loss. He was out coached in all 3 phases of the game. I am assuming the decision to try the 58 yard FG in terrible weather was his.

I’ll never understand how people can’t see the difference in taking over a solid veteran roster in place and leading that vs once said roster retires and now it’s your players drafted coached molded and leading that?

Chuck took over a crap roster and struggled but built a dynasty. TOMLIN took over a great roster had success and when they retired can’t win a big game. Maybe this year changes that narrative.

They both didn't learn from Buddy Parker. My first game he was HC.

Zero interest in coach of the year. Lots of interest in playoff wins and super-bowls

Yeah Buddy Parker was the first Steelers coach that I remember. He had some decent teams during his time in Pittsburgh.

So, winning coach of the year at the highest level of your sport… Or any other of the solo awards in the NFL is now middle school rec league. OK. Honestly bro. Recognizing achievement is not the same thing as handing out participation ribbons.

Yes...Ben had 14 interceptions in 7 games in the 2-6 start...Ben had a career high 23 interceptions....It was a great roster with a poor record. But it don't mean Tomlin did nothing in 2008 and 2010,the roster was not perfect(the o-line were just awful)

I know you’re not one of the squad on here but explain how once those players left he has had next to 0 playoff success? The roster was very good.

I still believe things can change and I hope they will, they just need to remove the monkey off the back but I've seen some great coaches have a playoff run of failure with several tough losses for several years and be better after that... Hopefully that will change for Tomlin... The 2021 and 2023 team were not good, so hard to criticize Tomlin on that.. True that the 2011 and 2017 losses were all-time bad... 2020 was more for Ben but I have no problem if you think Tomlin deserves his share of the blame for that one too... The last two, the steelers were overmatched like crazy

I admit,it would be rough if Tomlin has become Marty Schottenheimer come playoffs time since 2011!

With the way Russ is playing and our health this seems to be a situation where we can get the monkey off our back! I think we matchup well with every team but Buffalo and KC. I wouldn’t like Baltimore 3 X because I do think they have talent even though we seem to own them.

So Ben went down for some games, Had Charlie Batch as a backup, and Cowher took a SB team, and went 8-8.
Ben went down for almost the whole Year, and Tomlin had Rudolph (who had never started), and Duck Hodges, and went 8-8.....without a SB team. Me says.....Hmmm:hmm:

That 8-8 Duck season the Steelers had the easiest schedule in NFL history in terms of win percentage of opponents. Another lucky Tomlin year. Let’s see what your hero does this postseason. Hmmmm

    Are you sure?

They face the 12-4 Pats,11-5 seahawks,13-3 49ers,14-2 Ravens twice....I know they were 0-5 in those games but I don't think it was close to have the easiest schedule in NFL history!.....The schedule of 2014 was way more easier for the steelers, same for 2022

Easiest schedule in terms of the 8 wins. Look it up. I think the best team they beat was 9-7 that year.
