Warren is playing on third down and getting some other snaps, but he is clearly behind Harris. Warren seems to be healthy now, but Harris was still the better back against the Giants. Also, this season has highlighted Harris's durability, another area where he has a clear advantage over Warren.

I wonder if his size is at least part of the issue. Warren is a physical runner in a small package. It stands to reason that he wouldn't hold up to punishment as well as Harris.

in fairness, I think that was part of the concern, his early injuries. was he able to make it, long term?

I wanted Tomlin to rest him, let him heal - during that time.

Warren hit a rough early patch early this season. He was ROCK SOLID last year - all season long. He may be ROCK SOLID the rest of this year - we will see.

both are valuable - this team needs both at a high level if we are to go anywhere in January.

He hasn’t gotten the opportunity as the feature back to make that claim.

It’s not like Warren has been riddled with injuries since he came into the league but I’ll give you that Harris is a very tough RB, played through a lisfranc injury which is unheard of.

He has missed time with two injuries already this season even in a limited role. Taking on a larger role makes it even more likely he would be injured again.

Conjecture, can’t predict injuries. He didn’t have any last season that I remember and played a lot.

He did have more carries last year my friend, but he still had over a hundred less than Najee. What @Formerscribe@Formerscribe , and myself (while I'm a huge fan of his(Warren)) are trying to say is.....even with this little of touches....He is getting hurt....so it makes one believe that if He even got close to Najee's touches....he wouldn't last long. IMO....they are using Him perfectly. JMO

Yeah but I dont think they have any intention of making Warren a bell cow. He’ll just slide into Harris lead roll and they’ll get someone to split the workload with him.

Harris has only gone back to being the bell cow now out of necessity, Warren and Patterson have both been out.

Fact-based conjecture. He has never carried a load line Harris has done for three-plus seasons. More playing time does equal more opportunities to get hurt. You can’t predict them perfectly, but you can anticipate probability.

Warren has been back for a few games now. He seems healthy. Harris is just playing much better.

Najee being sure handed is very underrated. Warren really struggles in weather.

I keep saying it is going to be 12+, or wherever the franchise tag value is.

Right now, the Eagles are looking like geniuses for going after Saquon Barkley this year. If Barkley wins the League MVP it is going to be the year of the running back.

Bad Khan, Bad Khan, you are a stupid, stupid man. :) $7 million was the 5th year option price.

The Steelers usually let their players explore FA market,
If the decide that they can meet price or want to on the player
Then they will. Najee has answered the bell every season since he has been here.
    Only time will tell?

Some of us didn't need time. We knew the $7 million fifth-year option was a bargain. We knew the Steelers could use some cost certainty at running back given that they are going to have to address quarterback, receiver, left tackle, cornerback and defensive tackle this offseason.

Less cost / price, then MAYBE, but I am pretty sure, as stated regularly, that the BRASS was ready to move on, when they declined the 5th year in March.

They knew of other 'expenses' (including Warren) and were willing to part ways. $7M would have been a good price, by the way, I am not arguing that at all.......

Plenty of RB's are and have been jumping around. IF we go that route, so be it. Warren is ready to take the lead. the draft, FA, or maybe a Steeler friendly Najee agreement, TIME WILL TELL!!!!

The Steelers don't seem ready to trust Warren to take the lead. Notice what happened against the Bengals. When Harris went out of the game, his snaps didn't go to Warren. They went to Patterson.

I did notice and I think it was and is an error. so - they may not be willing (I think that is Tomlin)

but that is a mistake - IMO. that is what we do, as fans. we wonder 'why' and question / speculate.

Warren should be getting more reps - he is much more dangerous than Harris. IF they don't trust Warren, then we are in a bigger mess than I think, heading into 2025 in the RB dep't.

As I said the past couple of weeks, I think it is Tomlin living in his fears. The Warren fumble vs. the Commando's was a dead ball, as far as I am concerned. a stat - yes, but fwd progress well stopped, he was done, down......no whistle.

regardless, yes, his ball security is not as strong - but I think Tomlin is living in his fears. Warren is dangerous to defenses with the ball in his hands.

They don't trust Warren as more than a third-down and change of pace back. If they did, they wouldn't be allowing Patterson to steal carries and snaps from him.

Harris looked damn dangerous against the Bengals, as he has in many games this season, and he is more likely to hold on to the ball.
