Compare apples to apples. In the last 4 games the Bengals have given up 154 points, or 38.5 a game, compared to our 26.
Over the entire season, we've given up 18.7 points per game, compared to their 29.
You can't compare two things that are fundamentally different.

Edit- had to check- we've given up 100 points (27, 16, 19, 38) in the last 4 games. 25 points per game. And one of them is an outlier.

Those teams you mentioned don’t have the wrs or offensive firepower like the Bengals. Burrow has 30tds this season. Bengals problem is defense.

The Bills have a different type of firepower. I will believe the Steelers would slow down Mahomes when I see it.

Steelers offense should be able to move the ball on Bills and Chiefs D's... if the O-line is semi-competent like they were vs. Bengals and Ravens.

The O line is the root of all the Steelers problems, IMO. 3 and outs kill the defense... it's a chain reaction.

The Bills and Chiefs both have very good defense, so I wouldn't assume that will be easy.

Agreed, but I think we can still score on them

If Steelers defense doesn't improve this week over the Browns and Winston is allowed to be as successful as he was 2 weeks ago.... Browns will win the game. Browns D is a hundred times better than the Bengals. Steelers won't rack up 30 points on them.

Our defense relies mostly on disrupting the opposing offense passing game from what I see. We gamble to put pressure on the QB and sometimes we get burned. Does not matter what stats say, it`s all about preventing points and trying to generate turnovers. Usually that works. If the pressure does not get to the QB or force him to make mistakes, we are in trouble.

In the Bungle game, it was their last gasp. They were desperate and played a high-risk game on offense and we got just enough pressure on the QB and we got turnovers. Good thing they were not able to stick to the run game with that quick little RB they got (forgot his name) because we can`t tackle him once he gets room. During the game I was thinking the Bungles reminded me of the old SD Chargers with Dan Fouts. They could score, but they could not stop anybody either.

Depends on the matchups in the trenches to get pressure or force mistakes when we play top teams like the Chiefs. If we don`t at least get that in sufficient quantity, then we are in deep trouble. I hear you that we need improvement on the offense to contend with the best. If Wilson has time to throw, we can put up a good number of points.

Micah Parsons, why does that name sound familiar?
Wasn’t he the leading candidate for DPOY until they actually started playing games?

I feel our defense is kinda safe. Rush four drop 7 in a zone, hope edge rushers beat their man, hope for turnovers. Idk just what it seems like.

they have been fine this year. better than most years but we have remained fairly healthy this year which is huge. highsmith back may help but not sure this game. he will need some field time to get back in the swing of things but we are pretty stacked at LB right now. 14 LB'ers on the team including PS. that is a ton.

Highsmith made an impact in his first game back from his previous injury, so hopefully, he will be able to do the same against the Browns. It's not as if they are going to ask him to play every snap. They have four viable options on the edge. They will all get playing time.

I'm sooooo disappointed. The Steelers defense allowed a huge 6.6 yards per play vs the Bengals last week. While only getting 3 takeaways and only 4 sacks. Bunch o' bums. Embarrassing!

They gave up 31 points and completely collapsed in the final 10 minutes of the game. Nobody is saying they are a terrible defense, but they were not good against the Bengals.

Browns game - how many plays did Watt line up on the right side? did either he or I assume Herbig was on the left side....make a difference on those plays?

Yeah , pretty much... We basically try to hold the other team in check long enough to make a big play.

Gave up a lot of points. Didn't really do a lot to slow the Bengals or stop them outside of a few big plays. The good news is that when we had a big play opportunity, we converted in a huge way. I wouldn't call that an awesome game by any means... but it was just good enough to win. Cincy has a really good offense, but they scored their second highest point total of the season (behind their 41 put up on the Raiders).

Lots of teams are gonna give up points to the Bengals; doubly so with Joe Burrow behind center. The Defense giving up 31 Offensive Points isn't nearly as mystical as some might believe. That said, the fact that the Defense did give the Offense chances via takeaways and a greater disparity of TOP between the teams played a major factor in the teams ability to win against Cincinnati.

I hope the same will be said of Cleveland tomorrow. Gonna need the defense to step up in a big way.

Winston scare me....I hope the steelers will have 3 or more turnovers since Winston can throw for 400 or more yards against every defense!
