Our last two drafts have been super productive.

    2023
    1. RT - Broderick Jones - Starter with upside
    2. CB - Joey Porter JR - Number 1 CB (yeah he had a bad game, so what)
    3. DT - Keanu Benton - Starting DT and replacement to Ogunjobi. (I expected more this year though)
    4. TE - Darnell Washington - Stud TE at Blocking. Productive Receiver when used.
    5. Edge - Nick Herbig - Best Edge #3 in the league.

    2024
    1. RT - Troy Fautanu - Future RT with high upside.
    2. C - Zach Frazier - Already a top tier Center with future PB potential.
    3. WR - Roman Wilson - Incomplete
    4. ILB - Peyton Wilson - Solid ILB with upside to be top tier.
    5. OG - Masson McCormick -Solid OG, grinder and tone setter.

Doesn’t even include Trice and Watts ,etc.

If we can have another draft in 2025 like these last two this team will be stacked.

    nice summary.

Trice MAY be one of our CB answers next year.

I am holding out HOPE on Jones, I know many here are done w him, I am not. Look at that 2023 draft!

Get TROY and ROMAN ready for next year and that is great!

Colbert was just AWFUL late in his career here! We have lost a couple of picks in 2025 - the Fields trade and the Smith and Williams deals here in October.....

I still very much believe in Broderick Jones. He isn't just a starter with upside as others may believe. For reference, see Andrew Thomas first three years in the league. I do believe that Broderick will get it all figured out by next season. Remember that it takes three years or more for Lineman on either side of the ball to truly play to their full potential in the NFL. Zach Frazier and Mason McCormick are easily some of the biggest outliers possible on the team.

As for the rest of the 2023 and 2024 class?! Easily the best draft classes the Steelers have had back to back since 2010 to 2011. Over a decade ago. One to two more great foundation draft class and Pittsburgh will be perennial playoff contenders again. I get that will seem very long to some but remember this; Pittsburghs 2018 to 2022 classes set the team back in more ways than one.

Even expecting two tremendous classes to undo five bad ones isn't realistic; Free Agent Classes of those years notwithstanding either. Still have to find "the guy" but keeping Wilson here for a bit longer to groom whomever that QB is will pay dividends should that QB be the one. As it stands currently, the team is in much better shape than it ever has been since 2011.

The past two drafts have been very positive without a doubt

Colbert lost his magic touch after 2014 so there was a lot of rebuilding to do, and so far so good.

The table below is telling. Apart from 2017 when they drafted Watt they really haven’t done well in the early rounds over the past decade.

I had asked him once and if I recall he is some sort of writer. I don't think it has anything to do with this board but I could be totally wrong. Caught my eye long ago and I did ask but memory shaky.

Not to shabby! My burning question is can we win the big one with Wilson at QB?

don't forget priority UDFA beanie bishop. solid pickup. they have made so many good choices in adding free agents as well. maybe williams wasn't great but won us one game. pretty solid team in one season. :smiley1::cool:

    yes - but.....

    it is not all Wilson.

our coaching is below par - still - in my opinion. Playoffs show that CLEARLY.

I write articles for the site. Issue though is my ISP isn't the best so any ones that I have attempted to write are either deleted due to the ISP Bandwidth or the page itself reloads and all my work is then gone. Shouldn't be an issue but despite my best efforts and thousands of Canadian dollars spent (literally), no dice.

As such, if you see any of my posts in the Bill Nunn Draft Room, that is where I will be mainly writing.

Trice can't be count on to contribute they need to draft a #2 CB, Donte Jackson is a free agent after the season.

he is going to "cash out"

Nice summary. Omar Khan has certainly been doing his homework. That is two very solid drafts. He's filling our needs and he's doing so with quality players. A third draft like that could have us set up to become a dominant team for sure. Just need to get that QB spot filled with someone who is a future Hall of famer.

Way, Way too early to grade these drafts for success.

No offense, but right now you have nothing to speak of on your Round 1 picks. How can you believe this is good drafting if your 1st round picks are not seeing a 2nd contract? If both Jones and Fautanu are released after their 4th year, and don't have their 5th year options picked up then I would say it is a serious problem.

And I am giving Khan very bad marks for Not Picking up Colbert's 1st round pick in Najee Harris. Khan gets an F-- for letting Najee become a free agent to save $7 million next year.

In fairness to Colbert we had some bad luck due to injuries with some of his high pedigree picks. In addition we either weren’t able to resign or keep picks from leaving or retiring.

    Lost Talent:
    Leveon Bell
    Antonio Brown
    Martavius Bryant
    Ryan Shazier
    Stephon Tuitt
    David Decastro

Just Curious.... I wonder if this is for only players who made All Pro while they were on the team they were drafted by?

Like Minka. Drafted by the Dolphins and made All Pro in 2019, 2020, 2022 with the Steelers. Do the Dolphins count that?

    Broderick Jones just needs time.

Let's not forget he's about a year younger than McCormick/Fautanu and a couple months older then Zach Frazier.

I agree but all those guys were drafted before 2015

Colberts drafts after that were not good and injuries weren’t a factor in most cases. Here are his 1st round picks after that.

    Bud Dupree Mid
    Artie Burns Bust
    TJ Watt A1
    Terrell Edmunds Bust
    Devin Bush Bust
    2020 No 1st rounder
    Najee Harris Mid
    Kenny Pickett Bust

Beyond the first round Hargrave, Juju, Conner and Highsmith were all good picks along with Pickens. Pat F too.

He did pull off a nice trade with Minkah too, but the overall drafting and team building from 2015 onwards was very average, if not poor.

Yes he seems to be getting healthier and has been playing better.

A lot of linemen figure things out in year 2-3. The talent is there and we certainly shouldn’t be writing him off.

    This.

What Zach Frazier is doing is an abnormal for not just Centers but Offensive Lineman as a whole for a Rookie. Tyler Linderbaum and Creed Humphrey are the only other Rookies who have had comparable Rookie Seasons. Guess where they rank among Centers today? Top 5.

Lineman play from both sides take three years or even longer to develop. Reminder to those that Giants fans said the very same thing about Andrew Thomas during his first two seasons. Year 3 though is when he would go on to become a bona fide Left Tackle. Broderick has been stated to have a higher ceiling than even Thomas; a Top Five pick from a loaded 2020 Draft Class. Long story short?!

Broderick is gonna still need time to develop. Hell, Dan Moore took four seasons and is about to make an NFL Team quite happy for even above average starting Left Tackles are seldom found in the NFL; doubly so at the age of 27.

He has been there twice. He knows what it takes. Just look at how the offense is churning and is a viable tight unit since he came off his injury.

He is a true Field General.
