It's possible Diontae Johnson would have been released by the Steelers without this trade...With whatever happens with Baltimore right now, it's very possible that Johnson was even worse in the locker room than we thought and the Steelers had enough no matter what....He was also not good enough for that

 

According to SIS player tracking, Elliot is the 6th best safety in the NFL right now. What pickup Kahn!

Jackson is opportunitistic in the way I was hoping Fitz would be this season. Always seems to be around the ball. Fitz on the other hand... well, don't get me started.

 

There were rumors at the time that Jackson was going to be released by the Panthers, and that they fleeced us by getting Johnson for a player they were going to get rid of anyway.

OK - he is not Rod Woodson, but he is good. Good enough, with the other 10 and the scheme we play.

We need more depth at CB but Jackson and Porter are your 1 and 2 next season, that is for sure. We will draft a CB later.......the DLINE and OFFENSE needs attention.

Jackson has done an admirable job, he's nowhere near Troy Polamalu though.
I would like to see him retained, and competition added.

I don't expect anyone would.... Troy basically wrecked offenses from anywhere. He's in a category not many see.

 

Jackson is not signed for next season, which is yet another reason why passing on the best cornerback in the draft this year was a mistake.

 

There isn't a safety currently playing close to Troy either. For that matter, I doubt that is going to be the case for some time. Generational talents like Troy don't come around often.

 

Can't solve every problem in one draft. They needed OL far worse than CB.

The plan was to put Jones at his natural position and have a very good RT with that....The steelers were fine at the CB position in 2024....can't predict everything after that like injury,etc

 

he can't and you can't rely on him. i like him and want to keep him but he can't be the main guy. at least not for the whole season.

I'm not certain that is true, and that is the sort of narrow thinking that constrained Colbert during the latter part of his career. Jackson has played in the slot, so they could have moved him there. Jackson is also a free agent after this season, so there is a need for a long-term option opposite Porter.

 

You also can't draft for just the upcoming season, though that is what you seem to be advocating for here.

 

well.....he has not, but the one injury has been a long time healing. a full offseason, we will see. Will be S3.
