At Wilson's age I don't think he's motivated by money, he's looking to improve his hall of fame credentials and win a Super Bowl not play for crappy teams like the Raiders.

Wilson visited the Giants before the Steelers in free agency, I think he made the right choice.

I mean they can use it at the start of free agency just so he can't leave, then work out a new contract.

I couldn't put any ratings on that response...
He is finishing a nice contract that Denver is paying. But I think he knows that isn't going to happen again.
It's obvious he has lost a step - he just isn't able to extend plays as he has in the past.
His arm is good. He hasn't lost any arm strength or speed - that is good.
In my opinion, he'd be nuts to sign there but the fact of the matter is, that peter pumpkin eater owner guy is nuttier than well, anyone.
I would hope that a decent contract offering here, along with some roster updates will keep him here.
As I said, he is the perfect fit. "3-year contract, I draft a QB in 2026."

I have done my job then.....
But does he look in the mirror ever? He sure doesn't exude the Bee Gee's "Staying Alive" tune when he walks.

    Ditto me.
This draft is all about RB's, TE's, OT's (deepest) and really deep in Edge rushers... There's also quite a few impact DB players....

I’d highly doubt they negotiate a contract during the season. This is long since been in unwritten rule for the Steelers that they don’t negotiate contracts during the season.

if Wilson wants to be here enough to sign a contract now he’ll also be happy to sign a contract after the season is over.
Either way they are going to have to pay him the going rate and that’s only fair.
Barring something catastrophic. I fully expect Wilson to be the steelers quarterback for the next two or three seasons.
Fields will get an offer to be the back up QB also. He may end up having other opportunities at a starting job elsewhere, though.

Russ has looked much better than I anticipated but if he falters against @Philly @Baltimore and KC then they lose Rd1 the tune around here will change real quick. Plus he will be a year older next year. Let’s see how this plays out he and the team have a long road ahead.

I could see Justin Fields getting hired by someone else. I do not see Russell Wilson going anywhere. I think that he is becoming more and more comfortable with the Steelers offense and it really showed up a lot in our last game. I can't see Russell Wilson deciding to pull up roots and move for one more season and then retire....... Especially if we have any kind of success in the postseason.

In addition to that, look at all the big-name quarterbacks that moved around in 2024. None of them other than Wilson have had sustained success during this season. Wilson is the only one of them that is still seeing success. I don't think he's going to want to give that up and go someplace else.

My bet for the future is that the Steelers will try and bring their number three quarterback up to being a solid number two and maybe draft another quarterback in a six or seventh round spot for 2025. I think we're looking at 2026 before we make a move to get a high round draft pick quarterback. Next season we're going to go to war with Wilson at the number one spot, the current number three maybe in the number two spot and a low draft pick QB3..... Or maybe Wilson will make a deep run this year and the Steelers will sign him for a contract over the next couple years meaning that we're kicking the can down the road for a few more years.

As I said before. I don't really care about the Philadelphia game. I just care about the Division games. If We beat the Browns, Bengals, and Ravens.....I will be delighted, and it should give us at least one Home playoff game.

Agreed the division games are more important and sweeping Baltimore likely wins us the division but games like Philly and KC show if you are actually a contender. Those are probably two of the top 4 teams in the NFL.

I'm just thinking.....We will not go undefeated the rest of the season......So.....If I can pick my wins(which of course I can't) they would be those last 3 divisional games. That's all I'm getting at.

I think the same. 2025 will be WR, RB, some line guys, maybe a late round QB. 2026 we are trading up to get a top 10 QB if nothing else has fallen into our laps by then.

We are getting the full Monte with the eagles. The chiefs game might not have all of the starters, depending on the next few games.

The Bills will play the Rams, Lions, Patriots, Jets, Patriots.

The Chiefs have Chargers, Browns, Texans, Steelers, broncos.

If the bills take a loss against the Rams and/or the Lions, and the Chiefs beat the Chargers browns and Texans, then I would expect lessened play for the starters in those last two games for the Chiefs. That's a scenario that could really happen based on how teams are playing right now.

They can't afford to lose one more game than the Bills because Bills own the head to head. I can see the Bills losing to the Lions, and division games are never easy, except in the AFC North. Chargers and Broncos will be tough for the Chiefs, because those are two teams that can't afford to lose. If the Broncos have already clinched the #7 seed, however, they may be resting players.

Wilson has always been a team player. He and Tomlin speak the same language. Listen to the interviews.
As for Fields, even as a backup, I'm hoping that he is humble enough to realize that the Steelers are gonna give him his best shot to succeed.

yes I agree. I really hope we can get one of those IDL. It is a good draft for them. I would like to see us get another Man to man coverage CB as well. They will need a wr and rb next year. I think they can get the wr in free agency and get the rb and cb in rounds 2 and 3.

it really depends on how good his relationship is with Tomlin and Arthur Smith. My point is if Smith leaves for a HC job like Vegas and that same team picks p DK Metcalf and can see a scenario where they could really entice Russ to go there especially if the lifestyle is more conducive to what they are used too.

    Certainly a possibility

I’m not seeing Smith getting another pro head coach job

Only agree that not next season being only 1 year removed from ATL. Steelers win a playoff game or two and then another strong season next year, then I think the possibility becomes very real.

UNLESS Najee see's the light and takes a Team Friendly contract....then, no RB needed, get he and Warren done....and TE - nope - we just ink'd Pat and we have big 80.

    DL and some BPA's.....
