Those were not garbage points. There was plenty of time for the Bengals to come back. If Wilson doesn't make the big throw to Jefferson to eat the clock and set up a field goal, the Bengals win that game. They still had a shot until their dumbass rookie corner bit inside on the third-down run by Fields.

The defense needs to be a lot better Sunday than it has been of late. Winston's solid play against the Steelers in the snow was no fluke. He has 367 yards and three touchdowns early in the third quarter against a good Broncos' defense tonight. Jeudy has been damn near unstoppable since Winston took over.

Edit to update: Winston is now up to 410 yards, hitting a big pass play after the Browns got an interception. They aren't the Bengals, but the Browns' offense is looking very dangerous lately.

I think what hurt us against Browns was zero pass rush.

    Winston was way too comfortable.

Fair enough in theory. The eye test just worries me against QBs like Burrow, Allen and Mahomes...especially in January.

Also, both the Bills and Chiefs have way more formidable defenses than the Bengals.

The schematics (especially with the Chiefs) and of course Allen playing insane ball right now along with both teams defenses worries me more than the one-sided Bengals.

That was definitely part of it. Hopefully, they will have Highsmith back. Herbig makes big plays, but doesn't provide consistent pressure the way Highsmith does. The Steelers need to attack Winston.

Agreed! I can deal with a couple scrambles. Make him make big under pressure throws...its when he tends to make mistakes. Bend don't break is a terrible idea against him.

truth here. GREAT PLAY by Jefferson and Wilson. and yes - Steelers LOVE to play with FIRE! thank you Mike Tomlin.......if we punt there, Burrow kills us.

rarely a game when we get a nice lead and breath softly in the 4th Q.........

The steelers defense without Highsmith have too many bad game on defense this year.Colts,cowboys,Browns,Bengals.The only good game without Highsmith was vs ravens. He is very important and underrated at the same time

agreed. I remember when he went out and Herbig was the Shiny New Toy on the field - many were seemingly excited. He is great to have as a BACK UP / rotational (for now), but Alex is VERY VERY good.

Herbig needs to bulk up a few pounds, or he will always be that rotational pass rush primary guy. He has 2 great players to learn from!!!

Well they can't have another 5 penalty showing from our best corner. Twice this season. And Fitzpatrick is unimpressive. Other then that this Defense is solid. Not perfect, solid.

Burrow is a top 5 QB in the league. He is a talent they needed to face.

Side Note: Jameis Winston is asking the Lord not to throw picks :roflmao:

Sunday should have been one, but the Steelers decided to back off and let Burrow shred them.

Herbig is fine as a starter, but the Steelers need better than fine from their edge rushers.

To be fair, the only reason Herbig didn't do a lot more damage against the Bengals was that the officials decided to let Orlando Brown cheat before the snap all game long. Maybe they were afraid he would sue them like his father did.

We have as good as talent on the defensive side of the ball. Like we talked about most of the season, we just need to be aggressive on blitzing not just always relying on our 4 rushers. If you watched the Broncos vs Browns last night every time the Broncos blitz they rushed or sacked Winston. Most of the time they did not blitz and Winston killed them. It's simple to me when we can't all game get pressure, then blitz more in passing downs. Combine that with not playing too soft zone as we do. When they get into your zone close in on them before they get open.

Also now convinced and hate to say but Minkah has lost a step.

It isn’t often that a team can recover from a 17 point deficit with 11 minutes left in the game. In those instances, the team with the lead is almost always playing a soft defense and burning up the clock.

I remembered the lawsuit. For those who don't remember, Orlando Brown, Sr. was hit in the eye with the weighted part of a flag thrown by an official during an NFL game and he sued.

Part of the problem is the Steelers seem to suck at playing those soft zones. Getting caught with no one within 15 yards of Chase is a horrendous breakdown in that situation.

If it would take 5 minutes for the bengals to score a TD,I would been fine but only like 3 minutes for their first TD and under 2 minutes for the second TD...too quick
