Well those 75 might make into @S.T.D@S.T.D 's top 150 after his first 75 CBs.

I think a team like the Jets may kick the tires on Fields.

This a unique situation in which we have zero QB's signed for next season. Let's say we are 11-5 with a week to go in the season are we just going to let Wilson go on the open market or are the Steelers going to try and sign him up for a couple of more years. I can't imagine that the Steelers just thank him for a good a season and say good luck on your next team. They have to try and get him a contract before the season is over.

I don't ever remember them doing it, either, but Khan isn't Colbert. I wouldn't be shocked to see him break that tradition if the situation warranted it.

Have seen reports where there will be some teams interested in Fields. If Steelers want both back, would be hard to keep him here if he isnt starting.

Feel the best I have about Wilson after yesterday’s game but he’s going to want to be paid. Don’t kid yourself, it’s his last payday and he is going to want the max amount. I certainly hope the Steelers don’t pay it. Learn from Ben’s waning years.

I would want to draft a QB but they are already so far down the board that it may not be a feasible option either.

Wilson may be pragmatic and take a reasonable contract for 2-3 years. If so, move heaven and earth to draft his replacement so hopefully, Russ can help groom his eventual successor.

It wouldn't surprise me if Tomlin tried to keep Fields. But I don't think we can keep both.

Never knew this. Where I live the S is pronounced. And with your attitude at times Arkansas is now Arkan-sass;)

I'm not worried since we are signing a kid out of college in the 6th round or later and his name ends in Y.

I doubt about a bidding war for Wilson and I expect we will offer him a deal he will accept. If I`m wrong about that, Fields is plan B.

It`s a good setup for management. Try to sign Wison first. If you get that, you can let Fields go. Both guys lose a little leverage in this situation.

correct. nothing will get done during the season. they will watch it ALL unfold and finish, then have a nice meeting on a warm island somewhere - and figure it ALL OUT!!!

I've been saying this all along. Wilson is playing for his legacy. He doesn't need the money, he needs success. He's wealthy and famous, his wife is wealthy and famous. At this point $10 million a year ($30 mil v. $40 mil) means little to him.

It happens but it’s rare. Maybe he feels like he found a home here and loves playing for Tomlin so much that he does take a lesser deal. You can tell he enjoys the relationship he has with Tomlin much more than he had with Payton. If thats the case you obviously sign him and Khan sets up contract that doesnt hurt the team.

Or maybe he sees the deal that Cousins got and has eyes big as saucers. It usually tends to be the later with athletes. Don’t forget these guys have agents and they want to get paid, too.

Wilson is a very loyal type guy and as long as we keep Fields in some packages ... we will be able to keep them both.

I hear all your concerns, but with Omar khan being able to wheel and deal ... if they want to keep them both ... then, he will find a way to do so.

I’ll agree for younger athletes, but after a certain age you’re also concerned about stability and, ultimately, winning. You want to get to the big dance, or you want to get back to the big dance. And Pittsburgh, I believe, gives Russ the best chance.

What evidence is there that Wilson is a loyal guy?

Why is Fields going to want to stay to be the backup?

I think Wilson fits the future better.
I doubt Fields is going to get different and better.

Wilson fits the picture because he's at the end of his career and a perfect place to bring in a quality draft pick QB to inherit the franchise label.
I'd be willing to secure Wilson with a decent contract. I doubt he would be opposed to a 3-year deal.

But to your point, there are teams that might spend on Wilson like that Peter Pumpkin eater looking Raiders owner.
    That is a risk.

Steelers can wait until 2026... a better QB draft class IF they extend Wilson 2-3 years. Steelers need a DE/DT in round 1 badly.... and the '25 draft is much deeper at DL than QB.

i think a number of teams will, I doubt he will be here unless Wilson jumps ship and THIS WHOLE SEASON falls into the CRAPPER in the next 5 weeks!

    Sign Russ
Find a veteran QB for back up (cheap insurance - heck - Rudolph might want to come back!!) LOL
Keep Allen as #3 (unless he can be #2?)
