Anybody fear losing both of these guys in 2025?

I can see someone offering Fields a starter rule next year which is something I doubt the Steeler can offer him.

If that happens and then we get in a bidding war for Russ I could see a scenario where someone like the Raiders hires Arthur Smith as their HC and signs DK Metcalf at WR and throwing alot of money at Russ. How could he refuse? Plus Vegas would fit his Wife alot better and her career.

Wilson, yes. He clearly isn’t done yet. I have no fear of losing Fields. Best of luck to him unless he ends up with a rival.

Can we make it through the season before worrying about this?

If Russ continues playing like he is, I can’t see any way they’d part with him. Maybe sign him to a 3 year deal or something along those lines.

With regards to Fields, rumors are circulating that the Steelers intend on finding a way to keep both him and Russ. However, I wouldn’t bet the house on Fields if they decide they can only keep one of the two. This next QB draft class is being said to be another fairly mediocre one which is more reason to try and keep them both.

All this said…these are just sports media rumors so take them with a grain of salt.

They can franchise Wilson if they want to, they will probably try to re-sign him to a 2-3 year deal. I doubt Wilson wants to go to a rebuilding team he wants to win another Super Bowl, his wife doesn't have much of a career anymore she's probably happy being a wife and mother these days.

Pittsburgh hopes to keep both according to a report. If that report is to be the case already, that tells me that the Scouting Department and Front Office don't see 2025 as viable for finding the next QB as I thought. Then again and, as I have said, 2026 should be the year the team begins its search anyways as 2025 is a wash as far as QBs go.

Given how this teams needs another IDL in the worst way, 2025 has the Steelers covered in that regard. I have 5 first round grades on IDL as a whole and another 7 rated for top 75 overall. Checking back on my notes, I haven't had this many high level grades on IDL since 2019.

I liked the Russ signing for a year from the get go and he's definitely given Steeler fans hope for a better outcome when the playoffs arrive. Fields shows flashes of talent, but still seems to have some issues to work out. Russ is 36, so have to keep that in mind; father time is catching up.

I'd love nothing more than to see Russ hoist another Lombardi with the Steelers this year.

They will almost certainly re-sign Wilson. Hard to say what the deal looks like at this stage.

Fields will test free agency but it’s unlikely he gets a starting job IMO. Assuming he likes it in Pittsburgh I could see him circling back to the Steelers on a backup deal.

I believe they can and will sign Wilson

Fields has proven he is not a starter

I disagree. He was 4-2 with us, and beat three teams that are currently in the playoffs. He had a rtg of 93.4 with arguably (at least according to the board) one of the worst wr collections in the NFL. If he goes to a team that knows who he is and what he is capable of, he's more than compatent enough to start in the NFL.

I predict Wilson be signed in the next couple of weeks for around 3 years 120 million. Fields can start for a lot of teams in the league so I think he will seek out another team to sign with.

I’ll take that bet. Steelers never make contract deals in season.

I'm not completely sold on Fields until he becomes proficient with taking snaps from under Center. He has so much upside I would hate to just let him walk away, but he must become more of a complete QB.

He is four years into his career and he hasn't even figured out how to consistently take snaps from center. I see no reason to believe he is ever going to master the mental part of the game well enough to take advantage of his physical gifts. He seems like a good guy. I don't doubt that he puts in the work. He may even be a smart guy away from the game, but it doesn't show on the field. He is like Daniel Jones. He is far too limited in terms of reading defenses and anticipating opportunities to ever be a good enough passer.

That aggravates me when people pronounce it that way. Especially when I moved to Arkansas....they would say well Illinois has a S at the end, and I would say so does Arkansas, but it's silent.
