SIX friggin penalties! If they don’t bench Porter soon, he’s going to tank their season at some point. He won’t stop until he’s begging to play.

This. He’s played well more often than he’s played bad. Everyone wants a press man CB until that guy tends to get more holding penalties (like most press CB’s do). It’s correctable. He’s a good player. He had a rough game. S**t happens

 

Well sometimes you do, although I agree that we aren't going to bench JPJ. You generally don't bench one of your better players due to getting flagged. Gotta continue to work with him and help him find a better balance

JPJ was horrible today. No denying it.

 

The amount of penalties being called, in general, has made the NFL almost unwatchable. It's every week, every game.

 

Considering what he was called for, based off of what they didn't call earlier, I'll take what he brings. Refs overcorrected and used him as the example. Hell one of those penalties was on a ball thrown into the stands! I just watched them not call Baltimore for the same thing!

He had a bad day, but like was said one couldn't be caught by a 12 foot player, and then somehow it was alright for the Bengals D to pull Pickens down by his helmet before the ball got there....resulting in a pick 6. Just call it both ways

I guess what I don't like is he sometimes basically hugs the receiver through the whole route, and then when flagged, he looks surprised and argues. Just man up and own you messed up.

The real issue, imo, is that the Bengals clearly targeted 24 yesterday. If they saw him in single coverage they were going that way figuring there was a good chance at a flag at a minimum. They were right and the rest of the league is going to follow until he changes technique, makes them pay for targeting him, or the Steelers change their schemes.

In short, when your #1 supposed shut down corner is being targeted, you've got a problem.

This was a great win, but lets not forget we gave up 38 pts.

How many of you have ever had a bad day at work or in life? He is human and people make mistakes.
That being said JP JR. needs to get back to fundamentals and technique. He can correct these mistakes
with proper coaching and hard work. Note these habits will take time.

Smart WRs know how to draw flags from aggressive DBs. JPJr is an aggressive DB and Chase/Higgins are smart WRs.

He was entering into the Artie Burns zone yesterday it was so bad. Hopefully he'll get his head straight and play like he is capable of against the Browns.

 

Interesting stat from Kozora. Come Playoff time he has to eliminate that BS. Stakes are so much higher as is the pressure. I expect a few penalties but he has a bad game we are 1 and done.
