i am soooo happy to be a steelers fan today. have a buddy who is a dolphins fan. i love it when teams overpay for these players who werent worth it for their teams to keep them. wallace and ellerbe and they aint done yet. i bet they will be picked to win the east.lol the browns overpaying for kruger. i am just thankful that we draft our stars. we might overpay to keep them but we know what we have. we use free agency to fill holes. the way it should be imo. thank u front office

Thanx for the positive vibes, and I hear ya...
But i would be lying if I said I didn`t think I`m gonna miss Silverback, and I didn`t think Wallace was still a threat to catch the ball and take it to the house every time(if he would just "focus" and hang onto it)...
We will move on, and be fine, but to be honest, we don`t have the talent coming of the bench, to replace what we`ve lost, or at least, they haven`t shown it yet...
    C`mon Youngbloods...

    :this!:

I know we all complain from time to time about the Steelers unwillingness to pursue free agent X, but I am proud to be a Steelers fan on a day like today. I think we have one of the three most rational front offices in the NFL along with the Pats and Rats.

To put it simply, you don't win in January and February by winning in March. You do it by winning in April. We had a couple of hiccup years, especially '08, but we seem to be getting better recently.

Well, I was one who didn't see a benefit in keeping James. But that was with the assumption that the Steelers would attempt to inject more youth into the team. With some of their moves (signing Foote, Burress, Foster), the decision to let James walk doesn't make sense anymore. In other words, if the philosophy is to keep the core intact one more season, then they've blown that. And if the philosophy was to get younger, well, they've blown that, too.

you cant get younger at every position in one year. no rookie is going to come in and start at mlb. butler has said that many times. foote had a good year. i have no problem with him being back. foster is not old so i dont know what you mean by that. buress is just insurance. he may not even be on the roster when season starts.

Ironically I think the Fins wanted Wallace JUST to help against the Pats. I bet you Belichik puts a system in place to stop Wallace and the Fins get swept next year. You are not gonna take one guy and beat a team with him really. It's crazy to me to think that teams can spend so much money on ONE guy who's just a WIDE RECEIVER! I think a lot of GMs must think they're playing fantasy or something. LOL.

I dunno... I would say they have DEFINITELY gotten younger... Better or worse? We`ll see... I`m hopin some of the younginz show more than they have so far, on defense(Some of them will now get their first extended chance, also...)...
On offense, it was obvious we were gonna get younger on the line, also, now, we will see what those kids can do...
Hopefully they will be blocking for a decent rb, and receivers.
Not sure if we have those yet, or not, but we will find out early next year.
What "Core", did you expect to keep?
Ben, Heath, and.... ?A. Brown, (if he goes back to what got him the contract?), Ummm.... A runningback to be determined, when one steps up for a whole season?... and, ummm...
    "Core players"???
Well, I love Keisel, but I`m sure this is his last year.
So, Hampton is probably gone...Hopefully no one steals McClendon from us with an offer we can`t afford to match(Youth movement)...
Ike, Troy and Clark ain`t gonna be here much longer, no matter how awesome they have been for us...(Would call them the PAST core..)
Which means, we better hope Hood, Heyward, Worillds, and probably Cortez Allen (since it sounds like Keenan Lewis wants more than we will pay) ALL better step up their games this year, along with a few others I probably forgot right now...
Sure sounds like a "youth movement", to me...

This reminds me of what I love most about the Wallace signing: he's not a Patriot. I was scared to death he was going to New England and he and Wallace would have a year similar to when Brady and Moss went apeshlt on the league and went 17-0. I love that he's gone to a Miami team that doesn't scare me at all. A young qb who I don't think will ever be more than an okay qb and, after shaving their Bush, they really don't have any valuable skill players on that roster outside of Wallace (which pretty much renders him useless).

And Kruger going to the Clowns? They can have him. Weeden isn't any better (or worse) than Tannehill. I think Richardson is solid but their receiving corps is atrocious in the Mistake by the Lake. Cleveland blows. They're not turning any corners any time soon.

As long as our biggest rivals (and AFC competition) got weaker this off-season . . . I'm thrilled. Baltimore definitely got weaker while I think New England either stayed the same or got worse (we'll see what happens with Welker).

I also thought if Wallace went to the Pats he would really tear it up IF he would catch what was thrown his way. Brady throws the deep ball as well as anyone and you know they'd be going bombs away with that kind of speed. I think in Miami they will have on offense that'll make Haley look like the greatest show on turf. LOL. I think the Seahawks have made out better than anyone in FA so far by getting Harvin. Not because Harvin is all THAT great but because I think Russell Wilson is good enough to get him the ball and he will probably have some space since Lynch will demand attention as well.
