He kind of reminds me of Jalen Hurts when he was in college, Milroe has improved his passing and looks faster.

Dude seems like a great athlete. Seems like I have a bias against Alabama QB's though

Jalen Milroe or Quinn Ewers would be perfect if they last around 20-25. Could draft one of them and let them learn on the bench for a season or two and allow them to develop. Keeping Wilson for two more years could certainly help them set up QB stability for the long term, or at least hope.

It is just such a weird position we're in. Do we use our first round pick on a player we think gets us over the top for 2025? Or do we do something like this in hopes that we have a good team later? a QB pick all but punts on us ever winning it all with Heyward or Watt. Its a signal that we are more worried about the future than we are now... It will be an interesting decision for sure.

I guess that also depends on how they do in free agency. I do not see a single pick putting the Steelers over the top anyways, especially considering the prospect of Harris and/or Warren not returning next year. WR1/WR2 is still a mess and the defense could use a NT, and CB. I really like what Omar and Weidle are building, but this roster is a few seasons away from being really good.

I think Milroe needs to stay in school. He is far behind where Hurts was as a consistent passer coming out.

The only problem is that in a few seasons, we will be losing some of our best players. TJ wont be the same guy 3 years from now, Heyward will be retired, and Minkah will be 31 and getting close to being a shell of himself. We will "build a really good team" only to have to replace an All Pro S, and All Pro OLB, and an All Pro DT/DE.... We either try to win with those guys, or concede that we can't and "rebuild". I don't think the team is ready to give up on that when our defense is still putting up statistically quality numbers. We need a WR2 and an RB1 to be legit contenders (and that is with middle of the pack QB play from both Fields and Wilson).

The team will either draft for the future (and take a QB, and somehow convince us that they're still serious about winning now), or they will draft something they think will help us win now (either a WR, RB, or DL). I don't think a single pick puts us over the top (unless that pick ends up being a top 5 player in the league), but a bit of work in FA and a rookie that comes in and delivers for us might... There are very few elite teams in the NFL (I'd say Detroit and Buffalo are the best 2), but everyone has holes and deficiencies. We can try to cover them in FA and the draft, or we can try to draft a QB and see what happens.

Milroe is the only one I'd be in on for the 2025 class I think. MAYBE Dart. But signing Fields to a 2 year bridge contract and having Milroe sit behind him for at least a full season seems to be the "best" option for the future to me. In the short term, maybe its trading for or signing a WR, drafting a RB and a DL and seeing what happens.

QB is the most important position on the field and keeping Fields for two more years would be a sign that they're wasting the aforementioned defensive stars time here anyways. I merely proposed signing Wilson for two more years and drafting the QB of the future to sit and learn from him ala Jordan Love. There's a solid foundation on offense being built with the exception of the WR position and on defense with guys like Benton, Wilson, Highsmith, JPJ (despite his penalties). They really need a box safety of the future, help on the DL, another CB. I definitely pay Harris and Warren to come back, otherwise you're creating even more holes on a team that's somewhat built to win now. But WR is troublesome because there's I can see Pickens out of here come the Spring.

I understand it, and don't necessarily think its the worst thing in the world... but we are a team built to win now, so I lean towards drafting a player that could help us do that (and a QB that sits behind Wilson isn't that). That doesn't mean that drafting Milroe isn't the correct answer and he turns into Jalen Hurts by 2026 or 2027, but I think someone like Egbuka, Kenneth Grant, or Jeanty help this team in 2025. I agree that DL is a spot we could use a guy at. Ogunjobi isn't getting any younger and a high end run stopper with a little bit of pass rush ability like Grant could be a big piece. We certainly need another WR, and a guy that gets open and can make plays like Egbuka fits the bill. I personally hope we sign Pickens to an extension. He's such a good player. We pay Tomlin a ton of money to deal with guys like him and we have actual leadership the team with Heyward, Wilson, etc.... It is harder to replace a guy like GP than it is to keep him under control. We need to just figure it out.

Personally I think Harris will get paid far more money than he is worth on the open market. If he could be had for 5-6 million, then fine... but I think someone is going to give him 9-10 million and that is just WAY too much for what he brings to the table. Draft Jeanty if we're dead set on a guy in the first, or Judkins/Hampton in the second and pair them with Warren in a split backfield. Warren will be relatively cheap and there's at least a reasonable chance that whoever we draft is as good or better than Najee anyways. RB's are too easily replaced to panic and fork over the big bucks to Naj.

We have a good amount of available money in the offseason. I think we should spend it... We can turn this team into a winner.

I guess my opinion is different, but I don't see first round talent in this kid. Not this year. The same with Quinn Ewers. 3rd or 4th, maybe.
