Again....I know for some reason not allowing points is not cool to some people, but We are giving up the least amount of points per game since Minkah has been here.
Although to some of You that is not as cool as other things.....
Again I don't know what others want in a Defensive, but I know my number one want is.....try to keep the other teams from scoring.

That was against the far weaker part of the schedule. The lack of sacks from the entire defense and the lack of big plays from Fitzpatrick aren't just measures of the unit's play so far. They can be used to predict what is to come. The Bengals' offense is a huge challenge. Fitzpatrick needs to have a big game, whether it be creating big plays or just preventing them. The remaining schedule is brutal, especially in terms of the quality of the offenses they will face. Giving up 24 points to the Browns was a very bad sign, especially because they are by far the weakest offense the Steelers will face in their remaining games.

Look at what the Commanders have done since then. The Steelers haven’t been the only ones to slow them down. The Steelers always play Lamar Jackson well. That isn’t always true of Burrow, who is a different type of threat that Daniel’s and Jackson.
The tests the rest of the way are significantly more difficult than the ones behind them and they are facing at least one more of them without Highsmith.

Of course , I hope you are right. The Steelers need this one to get back on track. I’m just thinking they will need to take a little better advantage of the crappy opposing defense to win it. .

1st. Did we show the rest of the NFL how to play Washington???
2nd . I'm not saying we can, or will stop Burrow. I have actually said it many times that I believe Burrow is the best Qb in the NFL outside of Mahomes, and they aren't losing because of Burrows play, but just because of what He maybe able to do against our D, doesn't mean other teams will.

I think the rib injury helped the Steelers and everyone else do better against Daniel’s. He barely even tried to run in that game.
The strong first game against the Ravens was at home and it was turnover dependent.
The Eagles are a lot like the Ravens, but better up front.

As much as the Steelers have owned Jackson, Mahomes has owned the Steelers.

Today should tell us a lot. Plenty of time to prepare. It’s time for this supposedly excellent defense to step up.

I think the Steelers match up better with the Eagles, if only because Hurts isn't Burrow, but the defense was badly exposed today.

Ed Reed was still able to make plays being the single high safety.

Neither of the Bengals receivers went over 100 yards receiving, some fans have unrealistic expectations the defense still got 4 sacks and 2 turnovers.

They got three turnovers, not two, but they still gave up 31 points and likely the game if the Bengals had gotten the ball one more time.

Before anyone decides to be a smartass and remind me the Bengals scored 38 points, I’m only writing about what the defense gave up, so I didn’t include the pick-six.

Well, the Bengals didn't get the ball one more time I don't care about hypotheticals . Sure they gave up 31 points, but the Steelers offense scored 37 points .

That doesn’t make the defensive performance any better.

What everyone is not saying is the this D has played 3 of the top 5 points per game teams in the NFL, and they finally gave up 30 points. Yet they still had 4 sacks, 2 fumbles, 1 int, a TD, and the win.

LMAO. They gave up 31 points. More importantly, they didn't even slow the Bengals down on Cinci's final touchdown drive. They were very bad.

They still gave up 31 points and completely collapsed at the end of the game.

I believe I said that in the comment you quoted. D players are human also....notice they D pretty dang well until We looked like they for sure had the win....about the same time everyone was celebrating on the board, and Bengals fans were leaving the stadium. It's the reason Tomlin, and our DC was going around to them , and telling them to tighten up the zones. It happens.

You can't call a D bad that not only scored a TD, but had 4 sacks, 2 fumbles, a Int, and a win against one of the top 5 offenses, and top 2 Qb in the whole NFL.
You have to be realistic about these things. As 9 Fingers would say.

That it happens helps highlight that the defense is overrated.

Yes, I very much can accurately refer to that as poor defense. Four excellent plays do not erase a poor performance that allowed the opponent to score 31 points, more than their season average per game.

Remember, the two fumbles game on sacks. The interception was an excellent play by Heyward to tip it. One of the sacks was a big play that forced the Bengals to settle for a field goal. I believe that was at the end of the drive that they gave up a conversion on third-and-21.

A lot of that was poor coaching. They got too conservative on that third-and-21. They did the same on the Bengals' last two drives. They made it way too easy for Burrow.
