Like him or loathe him, there's zero offense without George Pickens. If he went down the season would be over.

I can see why Pickens was mad the guy was pushing him out of the back of the end zone.

Perhaps, but he may also be the reason we're a great team but not a championship team.
The small things win championships. Blocking is so important and can make the difference between getting that first down and having to punt.
Going against Buffalo or KC in January, we're going to need those little things to win.

I’ve watched this several times now and Newsome is pushing Pickens from the front of the endzone all the way thru it and back to the wall where stands are. How is that not defensive PI? George never had a chance to go after the ball.

true - but he is HARD to bank 2025 and beyond on. this team will struggle on offense for years to come....

Yes, he got away with pushing off once. In no way does that make up for the blatant pass interference the Browns got away with, especially the play before the half and the third-down pass from Fields.

Exactly. There were two blatant interference calls on huge plays that the officials missed. Also, they could have thrown a flag on the Hail Mary pass at the end, though Pickens was doing as much pushing as being pushed.

I think they let it go because Pickens was pushing Newsome, too, though I agree. This could have easily been pass interference and the Steelers get an untimed down from the one to try to win the game. Of course, short yardage did not go well for them in this game, so who knows if that would have worked.

I much prefer "letting them play" refs to flag happy refs. I've noticed good db's are doing a good job of subtly hooking or grabbing receivers arm when they try to push off to separate, which I kind of think is fair play. If receiver sticks his back arm there why should db have to disengage? It's already almost impossible to play that position as it is with all the rules in offenses favor

I don't think I've ever seen a PI call on a hail mary. With this in mind. I think if I'm an offensive coach I'd be tempted test to see just far you could push this. Why not tell 2 of the 4 receivers to basically tackle their defenders to make it less of a bunch at the ball? It's such a low percentage play anyway why not?

Dude. I always try not to complain about officiating in a game....because it's usually bad both ways,,but there were some really questionable calls in that game. The Intentional grounding, and the Hold on Herbig, and Benton on one play....there are others, but those two really stuck out IMO

Exactly. I would definitely push the boundaries on whatever side I was coaching.
