our pass rush needs creativity, I always see straight 4 man rush
no stunt, no zone blitz, no safety blitz
Browns were very creative by moving players around and got to pressure
bring Blitzburgh back, where is dick lebeau?

Agee this is going on too long, all our loses to Prescott, Joe Flacco and now Winston we didn't blitz hardly at all and the QB just kept throwing and throwing and we don't blitz. We need more blitz's if our 4 man rushes aren't getting pressure.

I saw one good blitz the whole game when Queen hit Winston, I think it was on that play when Winston had the intentional grounding.

I have been thinking the same thing for a while. There is no creativity in our pass rush. It just relies on individual effort of Watt and Herbig/Highsmith, and maybe Heyward, but it looks the same every play. The individuals may try different techniques, but there does not appear to be any coordination or scheme. And rarely any blitzing. If those individual efforts aren’t working, our secondary gets exposed, with lots of open receivers, few contested catches, and Fitzpatrick playing a safety valve that removes him from impacting most plays, except tackling a receiver that has already gained chunk yardage.

Thank goodness Watt and Highsmith are exceptionally good, or the defense would be toast.

I was so disgusted with myles garrett outdueling tj watt last night, our pass rush did not show up and browns did.

I agree. we did it a little more against the Commanders and Ravens then back to our old vanilla four man rush. The Browns by the way give up a ton of big plays as well. It is feast or famine with them.

The Steelers only have like 25 sacks this season.

While I agree, and Blitzburgh would be great to see back, it ain't happening. That was back when physical play was allowed and QBs often took 4 and 5 step drops and scanned several routes (blitz had time to get there). It's much rarer these days and a blitz just doesn't have the same time to get there.

I know that the best QBs pick apart zone (Blitzburgh built on that), so if you go zone blitz, you gotta figure out ways to disguise and change things. Having a quickness freak like Polamalu helped. Peyton Wilson could be unleased in zone blitz.

I don't know the answer right now, but some creativity and some backend safeties that will cover up the open guy would definitely add to a few big D plays to change a game.

You don't have to get the sack, you just need to get the QB off the spot, that's enough on many occasions, the QB starts running around and everything is disrupted. Winston is a dangerous QB always has been, he also might throw 3 picks and have a fumble, but you have to pressure him.

It was I think the only blitz, the next play we only rush 4 and Winston has all day to find his receiver about 27 yards down field for the game winning drive.

Our coordinators on both sides of the ball are far, far to conservative.

Man, that's weak. With the way things are going, TJ might not even get 10 sacks this season. The need to freaking blitz!
