I'm not seeing the same stats you are? (edit: I'm getting my stats from Pro Football Reference, which I use extensively due to them seemingly being good)

He appears to be 19th among WR's in receptions (30th among all players), 9th in yards (WR's and all players), 12th in YPR and 11th in YPG. He's done this while only being targeted 65 times (19th among WR's) so his production has surpassed his usage... We also have to remember he's doing this on a team that has attempted the 3rd least amount of passes in the league and completed the fewest passes in the league...

He hasn't been a top 5 WR, but he's performed quite well given the circumstances around him. He's probably due a contract in the 28-30 million a year range. He's certainly worth the money IMO, as WR salaries are getting insane. I'd expect us to pay him.

    Thank you

I also got mine from PFR but apparently 2023

    I stand corrected

So for this year currently 9th in yards 29th in receptions and 69th in touchdowns

    How exciting yawn

And keep in mind from a different post it was agreed it’s points that matter not yards

Its all good, it happens. Also, I believe that its S.T.D that only cares about points, but that isn't me. I think all stats are relevant. The team cant score if we don't get receptions and yards, and I don't care who scores as long as it is the Steelers putting points on the board.

I think that 9th in yards, 19th in receptions, 11th in YPG, and 12th in YPR is reasonably good considering that the Steelers throw the ball less than every team but two, and have completed the least amount of passes of any team in the NFL this year. We're primarily a running team, yet GP is putting up numbers that would put him around the top 10-12 performers at his position overall... I'm a bit less worried about the TD thing because he's been unlucky with 2 TD's overturned via penalty and one via replay on a weird one. The TD's will come eventually.

He's a really good player whether you want to admit it or not. He is a similar style player to AJ Brown, but in the body type of Ochocinco. He can win deep, he can beat you with YAC, and he's about as good a contested ball receiver as anyone in the league. I certainly don't want to go back to the drawing board at WR. Sure, he seems to be someone we have to keep in line, but we pay Mike Tomlin a hell of a lot of money to deal with kids like GP and he's supposedly really good at it?

The 10th WR in terms of salary makes 26.7 million a year, and 5-10 looks like the chart below. Hill, Adams, and Kupp have older contracts, Aiyuk is a pretty comparable level player, and GP is better than Waddle and Moore. I would be surprised with a contract under 30 million a year and I think he is worth it. We just have to make sure we put a #2 next to him that can keep the doubles off him as much as we can. NFL defenses treat him like a true stud #1, and if we get someone next to him who can ease that burden, it will do nothing but help him perform.

    Tyreek Hill - 30.0/yr
    Brandon Aiyuk - 30.0/yr
    Jaylen Waddle - 28.25/yr
    Devante Adams - 28.0/yr
    DJ Moore - 27.25/yr
    Cooper Kupp - 26.7/yr

Am I drunk or you? Because pickens is not at 16. He's in the top ten.

You said this. And when you find out, you still don't care. Do you even know he's potentially a pro bowl? Chase is going. But flowers, wilson (jets) and pickens are a toss up for 2 of the three.

Oh by the way does being #4 in the nfl overall for over 20+ yards mean anything? Doesn't that move us closer to TD? Asking for a friend.

Again, I have no problem with someone hating on the rules. Go for it. What I find annoying is when people don't take two seconds to educate themselves before crying foul. It's the victim mentality these days and I can't stand it.
As for this catch changing the rules. There's about a 0% chance of that happening. This wasn't even controversial at all. Pickens didn't get 2 feet down. That's been the rule forever. The NFL is not going to go to only 1 foot anytime soon. It would be so easy for the WR's. They're already ridiculously good at dragging both feet.

But hey, if I'm wrong and the NFL changes that rule one day, I'll be the first to own it. I just don't believe for a second that's a change that will happen.

The controversies on pickens died away when he started catching passes from Russ. You have to feed the beast. AB was the same way.

Fields couldn't do that. His main feature is running. He may be a good guy but i don't want him ever starting for us again.

Pickens is a stud. Little crazy, but a stud. Steelers need to do a better job of getting him the ball on some intermediate stuff more often.

    Give him what he wants.
    Make him a Star.

Camera didn’t catch it but Pickens came off the field yesterday throwing a hissy fit and slamming his helmet on the ground

Pickens is a great player but he is total head case. There is just something about him that tells me eventually he is going to do something really dumb at a very crucial time in a game which will end up bad for the result. I wish he would grow up but I have my doubts. That being said. He is really an amazing talent.

Sad thing is most wrs are like this to some point. I always said it would be nice to make each wr play Qb for a week when they act stupid.....of course nobody wants the losses that would bring, but it would make a more understandable wr. Look at Hines Ward, and Randle Cobb just to name a few.

At which point, Tomlin will trade him for a third rounder and a bag of Doritos. And in a year he'll be playing in the CFL.

Pickens is better than some big hype WRs like Lamb and Adams. Not as good yet as Chase and Jefferson...but he will be. He will be.

Yeah that one time he does stupid will be like when a qb throws an idiotic interception to no one there. Yep that thing that hasn't happened yet, should erase everything he's doing right now.

But qb at times make idiotic interception that cost us a game. Russel thrown a bone headed interception in the superbowl.

Things like that should not erase a players season/career.

If they play like crap all season, we can talk. Our half the season. But no good player or great player should have to bear that weight to always be A class every game.

Star receivers need to be fed regularly. He’s immature and volatile at times, but he delivers spectacular plays like nobody else. When he’s on the field with a QB who can deliver, the defense has to factor that heavily into what they do on every single play, every down and distance. We’re now starting to see how good he can be with Russ out there delivering. I think he understands when his mental errors have an impact and will work on them even if he may not publicly say “my bad.” He has a good shot at being a 1st team All Pro this season if Russ stays healthy.

I am more referring to something like the suplexing a player completely away from the play like he did after the interception a couple games ago. It would have not been a huge deal but I can’t believe he didn’t get a flag for it. He’s constantly acting like a child out there throwing a temper tantrum. If he can clean these emotions up ever so slightly he will possibly one day be a HOF player. The way he acts now he will never sniff Canton. The guy is a freak of an athlete but has a ten cent brain.
