Time to put Justin Fields more often in the red zone situation?

And because of his awareness....we had to run another play. LoL. I'm fine if You keep both Qbs on the field, but when You take the actual passing threat off the field .....that's pretty much a bad idea

Fields can throw...This is not like he is a running back who can't throw like the wildcat formation when this is the RB the QB

Most NFL players can throw....even DBs. The whole thing to playing Qb is to see who to throw to, and when. Hell the int on Wilson should at least have been a drop, but Washington acted like it wasn't even to him. Go back, and watch that play . He just stood there, and looked behind him. LoL

I love that Rus is a better passer he does help with the passing game but when your against the bottom of the barrel passing Defense and they have out game planned you you adapt...IMO we could have mixed the 2 styles and put up 30 plus . If we can use Fields to get more 1st. downs then WR'S would get more chances with Rus ..

I would let Fields have some 1st. downs most of 3rd. and short and all the 4th and under 2 .I think we can also get Fields in the slot and run some end arounds ,quick screens and such.. The Saints have a guy who has a special skill set and they use him a lot , I think Fields is as good a runner as him and is a better passer ..It makes no sense not to use him...

well i dont agree. Wilson was running for his life the whole game. Didnt have the time to scan the field. Also i think the int was partially on Washington. He didnt make a play on it. Just watched the defender grab it.

They need to use him in short yardage situations more and especially in QB sneaks. Keep in mind however his biggest issue is QB/C exchange.

Kind of fun giving them a little taste of their own medicine. Now they know how our defense feels with the added dimension of throwing the ball.

Yeah really. One has played 4 games, and one has played 6. It's what I expected.
    How about this.
    Wilson 4-0
    Wilson 7tds in 4 games
Fields 10 tds in 6 games.

So you expected Fields is better inside of 10 yards than Wilson

    Ok I’m good

No I expected that Wilson would get them into the redzone as many times in less games. That's what I expected.

With the miserable weather expected in Cleveland on Thursday night (38 degrees, rain, snow, sleet, and wind) might be seeing more of Fields. That's the weather that a running QB can take advantage of.

I like that the Steelers can throw Fields into the play mix to keep the other team guessing (that's what it's all about no?). The lack of Red zone TD's is obviously a big problem they want to keep winning, make the post season and go deep.

My only concern: it does leave them exposed to an injury to their #2 QB, who may be needed to play QB should Wilson fall to injury or regresses and needs to be replaced.

That is exactly what he should have done, and that fits in with his history of poor judgment. That is why I want Wilson on the field as much as possible.

That was the case at the end of the game, but in most red zone situations, Fields is a threat to throw, too.

That is a young player making a mistake, which is why I didn't like the risk of the throw. He has to be aware of the situation and throw it away. Take the eight-point lead.

The receiving corps is limiting Wilson. They don't do a good job adjusting when things break down. That happened on a few plays in the red zone. It also caused one of the failures against the Giants. Wilson saw that all Jefferson had to do was move to the right to be wide open, but Jefferson drifted toward the coverage on his left instead, away from the throw. A good receiver sees that and makes the play for a touchdown. Wilson did the right thing in the red zone on the first three drives against the Giants and his teammates failed him on all three.

I also keep seeing people comparing only their individual numbers in the red zone. Some of those rushing touchdowns by Fields have gone to Harris. It's about how effective the overall offense is in the red zone.

I hope he doesn't run around in circles in the red zone like Russell did and then throw an interception .

I honestly think Wilson only threw it because He seen Washington box out his guy, and because of the talk of Fields packages earlier in the week. This stuff will make the Qbs(whomever is in there) force things they usually won't . In doing this they are putting undeserved pressure on whomever they put in the package.
