It's not Tomlin or Stefanski. I don't live in such a black and white world.
If you think Tomlin is a good coach, that's fine. I have no issue with that. I disagree, but am not interested in turning this into a Tomlin debate or any type of negative post.
I also have no issue with people saying he's a good coach after every win. What I find annoying is the "where are all the Tomlin haters now" after every win.
It's a long season. A lot can happen. Like I said, we went 11-0 not that long ago.
I'm going to enjoy the wins.

If the steelers continue to win,Tomlin has a chance to be coach of the year with Dan Cambell with the only one with a good case over Tomlin

no it didn't because i think the transformation of tomlin's new approach were from weidl and omars change in approach. just my opinion but the results speak for themselves. there are also some very good coaching decisions that were made and i think they are paying off. i didn't mention them in this thread either but did when they were made. i believe weidl and omar had a hand in those as well. not saying MT didn't but i think now MT is buying into this different philosophy that MT and colbert just didn't have.

I’ve never seen Tomlin in a uniform. Every game is different and sometimes games are lost because of player errors regardless of the coaching strategy. My whole point has always been that they field good teams and games are won and lost on the field. 31 teams are disappointed every year, that’s how it works. Our teams play hard and always give great effort. Sometimes they just have better players than you do. Did anyone really think Mason Rudolph was going to beat Josh Allen last year in Buffalo?

If Pickens does not bone-head fumble early, then that game is much closer. We closed to within 7 in the 4th Q. Rudolph and Johnson were BALLING in the passing game, Buff had no answers in the 2nd half.

this is a game sport - i laugh about Rudolph beating Allen or Wilson beating Jackson. Neither happened. The STEELERS beat the Ravens, yesterday.

    Tomlin chokes in the playoffs.

I am keeping my expectation at bay until he proves otherwise. He killed the organization in 2017.

I am defiantly one of those people. I am eating crow and loving it. I hate to say it though ... I still want to see us play defense like this against Burrow and Mahomes. There should be no reason why we don’t. The refs let the DB’s play aggressively yesterday. If they do that it gives us a much better chance when playing man. Let JPJ shine. I just need to say I still get uneasy when we win based off of getting turnovers and the other team has a ton of penalties. I’m not complaining I will take the win but is that sustainable?

I do feel like the players were ultra locked in more in the last two games on defense. Perhaps that what it takes to play lights out defense. We need to make sure we come out with as much attention to detail and aggression against the Browns and Bengals as well.

me too, I enjoy the wins. It's not about Tomlin hate, dare we ever criticize, it's just about remembering the past and the Tomlin limitations that those of that know, know. We have lived it. Hope he can overcome and learn, and change. I have my doubts. Some of those doubts resurfaced with yesterday's offensive game plan. and for that matter, against Washington the week before.

I was down on the defense after their performances against Indy and Dallas. I knew we had alot invested in the defense and we had alot of pedigree. I thought we came out flat and unenthusiastic against Dallas and Indy. I do think a part of it was we were playing careful defense (not taking risks, not blitzing, etc.) because we didn’t want to give up a big play so we wanted to keep the ball in front of us and tackle the catch. I think this was driven by the fact we didn’t fully trust the offense yet. Now with Russ in there, I believe Tomlin has alot more trust and is willing to take more risks on defense. I believe the communication on that side of the ball has gotten better.

The big thing moving forward is staying focused and getting up for all these games the same way we did against the Commanders and Ravens and staying healthy. Thats not easy to do.

I never doubted Tomlins understanding of the game or coaching acumen. It was the conservative play that bothered me. I don’t see that happening now on either side of the ball. I believe its because he has trust in Wilson.

    i saw conservative play yesterday.

he did what he did to keep Balt alive. Same thing vs. Wash, UNLESS we just REALLY SUCK on offense....which is a hard reality to accept. I don't like some of what he and Smith are doing. Better (much better) that last year, but more is needed

How do you say he was conservative yesterday? We went for it on 4th and one. We took shots downfield and there were more planned but the defense had it covered or created pressure. The game plan was to use the middle of the field but I am not so sure Wilson is all that comfortable throwing there or can see it very well. I think our issue on offense yesterday was execution. Our second and third receivers need to get open. Russ needs to expand beyond the perimeter moon ball and dump offs in the flat and the offensive line needs to be better at both run and pass blocking. I believe the offensive line has gotten better since the beginning of the year but I would not say it is a top tier unit in the league. I would say were above average.

All i was say was there's a reoccurring theme. Anything bad happens it's Tomlins fault.
Anything good happens it's someone else's doing. If you weren't doing that then my apologies.

coach's get TOO much praise when things are great and TOO much criticism when they go bad.

but.....that is the way it is, I didn't create that.

Tomlin will be measured in January, during that first playoff game.

the rest here is just window dressing.

    they were not above anything.

avg at best, picked up some steam when Roquan went out - the defense really softened then, much like ours would if TJ went out for the rest of the game.

what part of no TD's did you not see? They sputter terribly in the RZ with Wilson. and the game against Wash was less than stellar.

Yes, MT did go for it with some suck play calling! he is just dull on offense, that is my feeling until I see differently.

he won't allow his OCs to have full reign. I am not sure since Wisenhunt and Arians, if this has ever been the case.
