Not sure why people take business personally. Players are nothing but hired mercenaries that will generally go to the highest bidder. I can't say I blame them.

Exactly. I would hate to have to play him twice a year but he will be the enemy and I hope who ever our left tackle runs him in the ground. Mike Adams or Marcus Gilbert? Good luck Ben!

I'll be honest with you, Harrison can play for the Pats or the Rats or whoever he wants to play for, but the fact that in the last two days he's said that he wants to play for two teams that most all Steeler fans hate kinda rubs me the wrong way. I appreciate what JH has done for the Steelers, but he may realize he's not in as much demand as he thinks being a 35 year old LB with significant knee AND back injuries the last two years. Hey, James, the Steelers are a smart organization and so are the Patsies and the Ratsies. They're not going to give in to unreasonable contract demands either. And if you sign with one of these two most loathed organizations for essentially what the Steelers offered you, you may end up tarnishing your Steelers' legacy.

harrison has two season left in the tank (probably) so i think he will try to go to a contender team if he wants to sniff another ring , too bad the contenders are our worst enemies , balt new england or san francisco , he wants to win and is clock is timing

How the hell would they sign him. They have the same issues we have with the cap. They're trying to retain Ellerbee, and are letting Kruger walk.

Signing with a bitter rival is acceptable (to some extent).

Stating your desire to play for your bitter rival just after they won the Super Bowl is just a big F.U. to the entire fan base. Best to just shut up and let your agent take care of things.

Hahaha....his agent has him saying he'd like to play for any team thats a 3-4...gotta love it. Its getting people talking and wondering and so on...its doing its job! I could care less where he goes...no matter what i wish him well and he will always be a Steeler! Thats all there is to it.

From that article, it looks like his agent was interviewed by someone from the Baltimore sun and was asked about James playing in B-more and as his agent, how else would you expect him to answer the question? Its his job to get him in the best possible position and why would he eliminate Baltimore? What is he supposed to say, "No, James hates the Ravens and doesn't want to play there at any cost?" That would be completely foolish and negligent as an agent. I'd fire him immediately for saying such a thing.

And further, Im sure James would entertain the possibility of playing in Baltimore. And why not? They're the champs and have got a great team and a great shot at winning it all again next year. If the $ is there, why not?

For the most part players don't share nearly the team loyalty that fans do. And they shouldn't. Its just not in their best interests to do so. Sure Hines Ward is rare, but if the circumstances were different (like Ward being a few years younger when he was released), I'd bet that even he would have moved on to another team.

I said during Super Bowl week that I think WE hate the Ravens more than our PLAYERS hate the Ravens. I mean most of our players were actually publicly ROOTING for them! That made me sick personally but to each his own I suppose. I mean in their eyes and also in reality they are just co-workers.

Come on. Do you honestly think that players are thinking about fans when they make statements or decisions like that? They are thinking about themselves and no one else.

James is 35. Has at max, two more years to provide for his family if he invests well. We weren't going to pay him. He gotta do what he gotta do

    Absolutely.
Theres no real "hate" for another team or their players. Sure some guys don't get along, but that exists within ones own locker room. And there definitely is some competitive rivalry between teams when they're between the lines. But for the most part, these guys are all a fraternity of players that have each others backs.

    As it should be.
The players just don't have the loyalty toward a single franchise the way the fans do. Sure there are exceptions (Ward), but they are not the rule. At the end of the day its just a job to them.
Do you think a guy who drives a truck for Coca Cola hates the guy who drives the truck for Pepsi? Or if Coke laid him off and Pepsi offered him a job that he'd turn it down because he's loyal to Coke?
    Football is NO different.

Free agency has made the offseason a lot more interesting, but it has eroded the loyalty that one player has to one team for life. I became a Steelers fan in 1975. At that time, when you drafted a player or signed a free agent out of college, it was very likely that they would play for the same team their entire NFL careers. I kind of liked that. Can you imagine Jack Lambert or Mean Joe Greene sucking up to the Raiders at the end of their Steelers careers to try to get another paycheck or two before they called it a career? I know it's the reality of the age we live in, but it just seems unseemly somehow.

I became born in 1982! LOL. So for most of the time that I've been able to really absorb football it's been in the FA era. I think that's why I like to watch the old school football any chance I get because I like the "purity" that's portrayed there.

I couldn't care less who James says he wants to play for, I wish him continued success (except when he plays us), the guy is responsible for one of the greatest plays in SB history and was a large reason why we have 6 trophies instead of 5. He doesn't owe me or any other fan a single thing, he was a bad ass Steeler who produced big time, that's all I could ever ask for.

Yeah I REALLY appreciate the old ways in everything. Some people from church have told me I belong in the 20s. LOL. I take that as a compliment.

I agree he was a great Steeler and the 100 yard int return was one we'll never forget. BUT...TE, can you honestly say that it doesn't bother you in the least that in the last two days that Harrison has gone hat in hand to two of the most loathed organizations in all of Black and Gold land and said he'd relish the chance to play for them?? Come on now. Think about it. It doesn't bother you? Not just a little bit???
