The bigger problem was that both Highsmith AND Herbig were out. The other team could just easily double Watt and not worry about pressure from the other side. I think if we have 2 healthy EDGE rushers, our defense is hard to beat.

Herbig played the entire loss against the Colts and a big chunk of the game against the Cowboys.

Teams figured out TJ watt for the most part. If the Steelers just need to contain the QB then the Steelers will keep running him into double and triple teams from the left side. If they want to get more pressure on the QB then the Steelers will have to rotate him periodically from the right side also. I love TJ but his presence is not the same as it once was.

Then what does that say about everyone else on that line, think of what You said. If he is getting, and he is getting doubled, and sometimes tripled .....why are the others not putting more pressure??? Cam is the only one that is getting constant pressure when singled up at this point, and he's a old man.

I’m not ready to say that window on his exceptional play has closed. He has gotten a ton of attention this year in terms of help being proved to the RT.

He looked like his usual dominant self early this season, but he hasn't been quite the same of late. I think he is playing through an upper body injury of some sort. I remember him grimacing after a play earlier this year, I think it was the Dallas game. He used to make more plays despite all the attention from opposing offenses. The ability still seems to be there. I just don't think he is 100 percent.

Teams literally gameplan around only him... Some teams like the Jets just quick pass it all day, while others double and triple team him relentlessly. I get that 6.5 sacks in 9 games is a bit lower than what we'd expect, but he already has as many FF as he did last season and his solo tackles and TFL are on track to be the exact same as last season (and he really should have been the DPOY last year). I think if he gets back on track with the sack numbers, and all it takes is one game... we might be seeing him hoist another DPOY trophy.

I'm not so sure that his impact is any less than it has been. He's just a bit snake bitten with his sack numbers. Highsmith and Herbig each missed two games together, and TJ had two sacks and a FF/FR wiped away in the opening week via penalty. I think he will be fine. I expect him to play at a prime level for at least another 2 years after this one.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed outside linebacker Alex Highsmith will miss the Ravens game and likely a few more with an ankle injury.

Looked back on the last injury, he missed 3 games and now atleast 2 more weeks. Possibly 3 weeks. I know injuries happen
and I like Alex alot, this is close to 1/3 of the season, I am a very firm believer that availability is the best ability in pro athletes.

I agree, but this one was a fluke, to accidentally step on the quarterback’s foot that way as he hit him.
