Troy was far superior, once in a generation type player with unique unmatched talent.....and still has those amazing TV commercials. :thumbs up:

Nope. Thomas was a really good player, but not in the same category as Troy or Reed. Not really particularly close either. It wasn't even statistics too, Troy was clutch... He made so many plays that mattered, so many unique plays that only he could make, and Troy could play in the box or in space and be the biggest menace on the field. He was 1 of 1.

Troy P the only player I ever seen make an a$$ tackle. LoL. How many times did Troy do things that at the time was a first, or something You hadn't seen in years on the Defense??? He was special.

Even if he were to make it he still wouldn't be on Troy's or Reed's level.

He might be on the fringe... so maybe in at some point, maybe not. He was a first team All Pro 3 times, but Troy was 4 times and was also the DPOY. Hard to make a case that he's better than Troy... He also played a completely different position and style, so its a weird comparison anyways.

    Off topic.....

Carnell Lake deserves way more credit than he gets. I would take Carnell Lake over Earl Thomas 10 times out of 10.

Getting a chance to watch Lake, Woodson, and Darren Perry in the same secondary was pretty sweet.

There were a couple of seasons Lake had to play CB and did it at a very high level. Very few can or have done this, Ronnie Lott of course, but he was at another level.

What many do not seem to understand is that these are 2 very distinct positions and skill sets. There are cover schemes where play is similar, but to be able to switch AND do so at a pro bowl (let alone all pro) level is only not difficult, but extremely rare. Have seem many different interviews where CB's have been asked if they would change to S to extend their careers, Rod Woodson did it, but several in the interviews stated just how difficult it is.
