    How is it that anyone is able to talk to Lewis or his agent before he's a free agent?

    There is about a 3 day window prior to the "official" start of free agency in which the team and player can begin talking. Of course, unofficially Lewis has been talking to other teams for weeks now and anyone that believes otherwise is naive.

    I have to believe Steelers are really high on Allen... he was raw last year, but you can see his potential to be a big time playmaker in the Secondary.

    The one thing about Allen that I like is that fact that he can catch the ball.

    Could be the first real playmaker we have back there since Troy. Hope we see more of that next season.

    Yeah really because if our linebackers are not gonna be as solid as before we're gonna need the guys behind them to take it to another level. I would LOVE for us to have a true ballhawk. We've not had that in what we in the south call "a coon's age". I mean Troy can catch it but who knows how often he is gonna be there?

    The best part about Allen is he is only going to get better. He didn't play football until his senior of high school. I believe the steelers will be working on a long term deal with him this year. He will be a top tier corner when all is said and done. Gotta love coach lake. I think Lewis leaving will be a big mistake on his part. Gay was horrible under Horton as was Lewis. Gay went to the cards and took a huge step backwards from his time with Lake. I think King may push Gay at the nickel spot. Coach lake seems to get the maximum potential out of his DBs and he has huge potential. I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't tender DVD as I believe he has potential as well.

    Just a correction on the window. It's a little weird, but apparently they're not allowed to talk to the player, but allowed to talk to the agent!

    My old next door neighbor had a beautiful bluetick. Unfortunately they did a really poor job of training him and if let out he would wander for days.

    I was referring to player in general terms and the team is essentially talking to the player when they are talking to his representative. I don't think I knew they couldn't communicate directly with the player though but it makes sense. Hard to say what kind of deal some of these players would ink if it weren't for these slick agents negotiating the deal.

    I know a couple people who have Coons, great dogs, at least the ones I have met are.

    Sucks about the Bluetick, that drives me crazy, can't tell you how many dogs I have returned to careless owners.

    Here are some rules regarding 'legal tampering' for anyone interested:

    -Period starts at midnight on Saturday and ends at 3:59 p.m. on Tuesday. So, it's actually about 8887 hours long (with daylight savings time begins this weekend)

    -Teams can only contact the agents and enter into negotiations. No contracts can be executed until free agency starts at 4 p.m. on Tuesday;

    -Teams can't meet with players (other than the player's current club) in any location, and there can be no direct contact between the player and another team;

    -Players who don't have an agent, such as Ravens safety Ed Reed, can't be contacted by another team;

    -No visits can be lined up until free agency starts at 4 p.m. Tuesday;

    -The three-day window only applies to potential unrestricted free agents. It excludes restricted free agents and franchise players.
