The way the Steelers made moves to upgrade I wonder if they looked at the MLB franchise in Pittsburgh and did the opposite;)

Bucs never recovered from Derek Bell's Operation Shutdown in 2002 (nor Sid Bream rounding 3rd a decade earlier).

Hilarious article about said Derek Bell, especially being the "ultimate Pirate". :lolol:

What? Did Aaron Rodgers give his permission for this? Because it's not happening until Aaron says it's happening......lol

I bet Russell Wilson is happy he has another big WR to throw his moon balls to in Williams.

He missed all spring and summer with the Jets rehabbing so he had little to no practice w Rogers to build chemistry. Also, another reason for low targets from Rogers is a crowded receiver room w Garrett Wilson, Lazard, Malachi Corley, Irvin Charles (a young guy Rogers apparently likes a lot) and then you add Davante Adams. Williams became available. I like the trade and think it is good value - a 5th rounder draft pick (which we already have if I am correct on that). Also, he is a good locker room addition. You can never have enough of those types. Former 1st rounder (7th overall 2017). He also has size 6' 4 220. I like the trade.

    Yes

    Because the owner sucks

He gets rid of young players as soon as they are due a big contract

Second lowest payroll equal to about one quarter of the Mets

Sometimes I wonder if he is keeping the team just to be an ******* at this point. He doesn't need the money they make. He is insanely wealthy. He doesn't even try to win. He doesn't like people telling him he is cheap, so keeping the team until he dies is a way to give a big middle finger to fans who deserve more.

I have enough money to live the way I want and I’m happy with that. I could make more but other than investments I don’t try to add to the pile.

But some people just want more more more.

Perhaps the Pirates owner is in the second group.

I'm certain that is true, but he could probably find other investments that are just as profitable with less hassle. I think at least part of the appeal for him is being able to screw over the fans who complain and insult him. He has followed a similar practice with Ogden Newspapers, a company that he inherited. (No, he's not a self-made man.)

Anyway, sorry or extending the tangent. We can probably stick to illuminating how despicable Nutting in the other sports section of the board.

Once a Yinzer always a Yinzer

And I go to a few games but mostly when I go with a group of friends and tailgate on top of exposition park home plate

If I still lived in Pittsburgh, I would still go to a few games every season. I still enjoy going to a ball game and PNC Park is worth the price of admission. I just wouldn't give a damn if the Pirates won or lost.

Quite frankly two days later after a Pirates game I don’t even remember who won

Two days after attending a Steeler game I can tell you pretty much every play

Pretty interesting that with Austin out Russ told him where to line up and what route to run, as he had not practiced it.
