Not surprising. You have to wonder when coaches will get away from the archaic thought process of 4th down= punt. That theory goes back to the early days of football when scores were frequently 7-0, 7-3 etc.

There’s a video floating around about a HS coach that never punts, always goes for onside kick etc. if I remember correctly he coached in Arkansas and won something like 10 state championships in just under two decades. One of the videos I watched about him had a clip with an opposing coach. He said something like we were down 5 scores before ever touching the football offensively. At one point he left HS coaching and started coaching at some tiny college. First couple games went okay and then the wheels fell off. Pretty sure he was on the Patriots staff for a bit as well

 

Only coach I can think of that coached anywhere in Arkansas, and was on the the Patriots staff is Bret Bielema.....who is now HC of Illinois,,but He didn't coach in HS in Arkansas.....although I do remember the talk of a HS coach doing what You said..
Though the Ravens lost their last game .....could be pointed to going for it on 4th down in the red zone....instead of taking the easy points. Had they done that....they would only had needed a field goal to win the game yesterday....instead of a TD, and I believe they were in easy field goal range(like the 30) when time ran out on them yesterday.

Kevin Kelley is his name. He coached at Pulaski Academy before departing for a college program. He’s now back at Sheridan High school in Arkansas. Also he was with the patriots, albeit briefly. I understand your line of thinking;however, you can’t argue with his results. He won 9 state championships in 18 years at Pulaski.
