I have very mixed emotions on this signing. Hated him when he was here but was showing some signs of improvement his last season with us. Not hard to do when the only way to go was up.
So, now Arizona is the place for washed up Steelers to go to in order to try and hone their skils for redemption?

I don't think William Gay is as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He is still young at only 28. He really is a great Nickel Corner, plays the Nickel very well. He can fill in as a starter, to provide depth at corner. He shouldn't start over Taylor, Lewis, or Allen. But, he can start if called upon. He can help out special teams. If he comes on the cheap, I say sign him.

As long as Gay is hired (and paid) for CB depth, I'm fine with that. The problem was when the Steelers tried pushing him into a starter's role.

Can someone mention the general area where his house is? If it is the NW Pittsburgh suburbs, then there is still a chance that he is signing with the Browns instead, as it wouldn't be too far of a drive.

From the article: Gay has changed his Twitter account information to label himself a "cornerback of the Pittsburgh Steelers."

I would like to give an advance "you're welcome" to every qb that is scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the coming year.

He won't be the third if we sign Lewis he will be the fourth. I think Lebeau likes him because of his abilityto blitz. For depth purposesi will take him

If we can't sign Lewis we are going to need someone to immediately fill the void, and Gays last season here was arguably his best season. I was never a fan of his and was glad when we let him go but he does know the system and can see field time right away if needed. Now let's hope he's not "needed".

Edit: And no i didn't mean I would want Gay replacing Lewis at the #1 or 2 spot, just that we'll need the depth if Lewis is gone.

I'm not seeing the downside to this. He adds depth, know's the system and has been making gradual improvements to his game. As long as he doesn't take playing time from Allen, I'm more than fine with it.

That's my concern too. Other then that, I don't mind it, he did well his last season, no coincidence that was Lakes first season here. He should be that player he was that year and not the years prior.

I agree with everyone talking about his ability to play the run. But what's to stop every qb that sees him on the field just calling an audible and going to a pass play? Couldn't this happen and get us torched?

I just get tired of having players, cutting them, and then bringing them back. Maybe Im still pissy from this past season, but I just dont really love this signing at all.

If it works the way I'm hoping, this means that we probably have the best dime back in the league, while still getting a comp pick for him leaving last season
