Al Michaels calling Lake from the Rams is giving me flashbacks. Quentin Lake, son of Carnell, was a 2022 6th rounder.

    Underrated Steeler?

Dang refs miss a blatant facemask to end the game on a safety.

Jameis Winston will be the starter for the browns this week vs ravens

What are the chance that the Browns upset the ravens sunday?

And will the eagles beat the bengals?

I always thought scoring plays were reviewable.

I know that New York has called the officials on the ground to call late hit calls on QBs. It is pretty obvious when a flag comes in super late from an official who had no view of the hit at all, that someone other than the official is making that call.

Safeties are not reviewable on facemask penalties

Now lets really spin the Call...... But, if you challenge it based on it being a roughing the passer call because it was a shot to the head then it is reviewable. I don't think anyone could argue that this play did not involve the head or neck area.

Another aspect will allow for a roughing the passer call to be reviewable if the roughing call involves contact to the head or neck area. The replay official can only make a determination if contact was made to the head or neck, but no other elements are reviewable. This is intended to capture situations where a quarterback is contacted legally, but his head jolts as if he was hit there, and the body contact is out of the referee’s sightline. It does not apply to any other head contact, nor does it apply if the quarterback is a runner. (The replay command center does have the authority to eject players who have committed a flagrant foul.)

I was only stating what the announcers were saying during the game. Totally agree.

Despite years of proposals to make these penalties reviewable (reportedly several times by the Rams!), a face-mask call cannot be reviewed. Ever. Even if a play is already being reviewed — as all scoring plays are — Sections 3 and 4 of Rule 15 in the NFL Rulebook remove the officials' ability to fix this call.
Thus, being a facemask, can’t spin it to a hit to the head or neck areas.

I get not allowing coaches to challenge everything but with them now automatically correcting errors with minimal game impact, blatant missed calls like this need to be corrected.

This is an excellent view of the Referee looking straight at the play and not calling it. Not sure how he can miss something like that, it happened 10 feet in front of him. Someone needs to ask this official to explain why he didn't throw a flag.

My biggest complaint on officials is when I see a late flag come in from an official that has no business throwing a flag, because there is no way he actually saw the penalty. It is someone from New York telling the official to throw a flag on a penalty he never saw. I wonder why it didn't happen here?

The NFL loves those California TV ratings. Minnesota will lose every time that they have to compete against the California or New York market.

All scores are reviewed, but they are not reviewed to look for penalties (was the guard holding, did they jump too quickly, and so on) the are reviewed for.....was it a score, or not. It's stupid,,but it is what it is. Just like the AB game when He scored against the Ravens (I think it was a Christmas game??) He was face masked very forcefully, but they didn't check that....they only checked to see if He scored , or not.
