Halftime adjustement

The steelers have the second best offense in PPG and best defense in the NFL in points against in the second half this year and they haven't given up a single point in the 3rd quarter after 7 games, which is crazy!

Great second half team so far and how much credit does the coaching staff deserve for that in the halftime adjustment?

Thanks for sharing. Makes total and complete sense. There would be no time to do half time adjustments. They literally make changes throughout the game.

 

If we play better in the first half than the second, it's because Tomlin made no halftime adjustments and the other team did.
If we play better in the second half than the first, it's because Tomlin had the team poorly prepared.

Halftime adjustments, in-game adjustments, results is what he means.

 

It really depends, as I am sure that there are adjustments being made on the fly all game long. These numbers can show that we are either a good team that underperforms in the first half, or a meh team that over performs in the second half. Hard to tell what the reality is.

My take on it is that we generally get outplayed in the "scripted" part of the game (first few series on offense for each team), then we get better as the game goes on. That part I would probably attribute to the coaching staff, but they also get some credit for adjustments on the fly if they are actually having an impact on how the team is performing. Pluses and minuses to go around I am sure.

 

And yet some of the split pea brains here want to get rid of our DC

I think in these days and times, there is limited things one can do. As they mention, you are on headsets and tablets during the game so that sort of takes pressure off.
BUT
They are not a myth in older days.
Joe Gibbs and crew were masters at adjustments. Marv Levy, Bill Parcells and Mike Shanahan were pretty good too.

Modern technology has phased it out. Good and bad.

 

The largest deficit that the steelers had at halftime outside of the game vs Colts was only 3 points.So this is not like they are awful in the first half...they are about even.But in the second half,they are just dominant this year!

But yeah,when the steelers have a great first half,this is because the coach had a great gameplan and preparation.....When they are a great second half team,this is because of the halftime adjustement!!!!

Just important that when they are not dominant,to be at least about even or close to that!

This is impossible to have everything too,like dominant in every quarter and thing like that!

 

wellllll - with that level of talent, some of us could coach that defense.

they have not been challenged super hard yet. he will not be getting any HC offers in January, I will assure you of that.
