I was sure he would've made the team last year or at least the practice squad but its a new year and a new opportunity. Have anyone heard or know his where abouts? They signed John parker Wilson .....and I can't figure this one out ?

By doing a quick search...heres a quote from Wikipedia....

    "Sacramento Mountain Lions

Johnson signed with the Mountain Lions in September 2012, serving as the team's backup quarterback. He became the Molos' starter in week 2 of the 2012 season after an injury to starter Josh Johnson."

    And on that teams site...

    http://sacmountainlions.com/team/roster/index.html?player_id=26

And then of course the UFL postponed the rest if the 2012 season at some point...so yeah...thats about it.

Let me rephrase...why haven't the Steelers brought him back? Even last year when our qb's were dropping like flies.I'm not saying he's the next thing since Randle Cunningham or anything but he had potential. He was one of the bright spots of last preseason

Lets just build from the draft and start having cap space to sign a fill in player every once in a while. That formula turned into 6 rings.

Apparently theres a reason he is not back. They don't want him back...he doesn't want to come back...they haven't gotten to that point to bring in some more bodies/etc with everything else going on...who knows. While the guy looked ok in some playing time....he doesnt seem like the savior to the backup situation or whatever, no huge loss in my eyes if he doesnt come back.

One of those phenomenons that happens on this board, guys get elevated to mythical proportions without ever proving themselves in the NFL. Happened with Swede too (and I was guilty of that one I confess). Johnson is so good and has so much potential that he isn't even playing in the NFL. All the teams have missed on this gem!

I'm just messing with you all ;)

    *but its true

It's funny 'cos it's true. The one exception - and we all should admit this - is PWP and his one-man crusade to crown Isaac Redman the starting RB. He got his wish, at least.

Actually, one of my hopes is that we bring johnson back, when camp starts... he looked extremely good last preseason and probably should've made the team....I personally think we have too many needs elsewhere to even think about drafting a young project, so when one falls into your lap, give it a shot.... keep in mind, that johnson had beaten out the current dolphins qb in college, and the only reason anyone is talking about him at all is because johnson suffered a major injury.... that injury appears to be fully healed now.. plenty of players have had to take the long road to the nfl, and carved out great careers once they got there

I'm still puzzled as to why the Steelers let Hoyer go at the end of last season. I think he could have been a serviceable backup to Ben and had we retained him, we wouldn't have had to worry about filling that position this offseason once Leftwich is (finally) given his walking, er, shuffling papers.

If I remember correctly there was another injury or something and they had to promote someone and cut someone...not sure...but I think thats part of the reason. I'd like to have kept him too...but oh well.

Exactly. Ben returned from injury and Ike fractured his ankle, so Hoyer needed to be released to make room for Josh Victorian.

mac daddyo and I argued playfully over this guy but mac was right. And Tomlin should be head smacked for leaving lefty in for the first Bmoe game. I think Batch would have won that game

the kid should have beat out lefty, but MT likes vets, and i can get on board with that thinking to a point, but the kid should have at the very least been put on the PS last year.

Yeah with the difference being that Warner threw for 2980 yards, 43 TD's in his first season then was named to the All Pro Arena team the next 2 seasons while Jerrod was a back up last season and only saw the field after an injury to their starter. He couldn't even win the starting job in arena football, exceptions are not the rule, Jerrod Johnson is no Kurt Warner.

Why would you think that? Batch was awful in the following game and that was with a weeks preparation. In hindsight, Tomlin probably didn't want to risk losing his last backup QB which could have been very likely with how underprepared he was to go into that game.

Who was our QB in the 2nd rats game? Who won?
Lefty was bending over holding his heart in the 1st quarter in the 1st game. We had zero chance to win that game on lefty's play

Yeah, after 2 games under his belt. So again, if he played poorly with a week of practice against Cleveland then what makes you think he would have played well with no practice against the Ravens? He was as rusty as can be. I think they had zero chance with either of them but at least Tomlin didn't lose the only QB he had left by throwing him into an impossible situation.

how do you know? maybe the team had a starter in place. i get it you don't like him but to say he will never be whatever is kind of jumping the gun. he was aweful good in college before the injury and he played pretty good here in his short time. i for one wouldn't have a problem with him coming in to compete.

How do I know what? That he's no Warner? I just showed you, Warner went to Arena and immediately tore it up. Jerrod couldn't even win the starting job, can we wait to this guy even remotely does something before using a HOF as an example??? I neither like or dislike the kid, I just don't think he has anything.

Are you guys forgetting that we already have a franchise qb in place???? The only thing we need right now is a young qb to competently back ben up and fill in in case of emergency, and I personally feel that johnson fits the bill
