Of course it is. But are you seriously going to act like any other WR could have done that on this team?

I suppose Pickens could have dropped a few more TD passes from Fields.

Remove every number 1 WR in each team and every QB will look worse especially when the team has no other good option at this position...Purdy was human yesterday without Samuel and Aiyuk...

Agreed, it took a entire team to win this game.

I think the older I get, the less concerned I am about who specifically had the most contributions to our victory. I just want good team play, mistake-free football.

Wilson, Pickens, and Najee all had a good game; however, the defense and special teams had a hell of a combined performance. If anything, the offense can buy the defense steaks (for this game and others this season).

Pickens was starting to have a meltdown before Sunday. He wasn't getting many opportunities to do anything except maybe block a little.

i think Wilson and Pickens should thank each other.

    This. 100%
We went from having one td in 6 games for our Wrs to 2 wr getting a td in one game this week. Washington went from having 6 catches all season to 4 catches last night, and Muth had his longest reception the whole season, and the D finally got out of the box for Najee, and Warren...I would think all the weapons on Offense are happier.

You're right we should trade pickens straight up for Johnson. I'm sure he'll do one handed and catch deflected passes and is known for being uncontested.

I said in a another post that Pickens was our second most important player after Watt and you said this after that?....Make no sense

    AGREED.

Pickens played like a MAD MAN. he must be THRILLED that the game plan will start to include regular passes down field. MAYBE this gets him focused for the remainder of the year.

Russ (I hope) will regain the speed of the game and WR's and not throw those ball so short, moving forward.

    He was rusty for sure.

the Muth grab was made possible by the ball being thrown soft, with air under it, for a touch grab. But a great catch and pass play there for sure!

You must think that 85% of the QB suck right now according to your comment on Baker in a another thread and now Purdy....This is harsh!

You could tell he loved watching Antonio Brown play the way he would rave about him, but yeah, he does often show the bias of a former division rival.

His point still stands. You're reply makes zero sense within the context of the comment you were replying to. He said every QB would look worse without their #1 wr. While the word "every" might be wrong, some quarterbacks are good enough to play with just about anyone at receiver, but what else about his statement is wrong?

Just to be clear and I didn't specify this and I take the blame for that but I wanted to say that when a team loses its number 1 receiver and the 2nd best receiver is at the caliber of either Van Jefferson or Calvin Austin, it's going to hurt to every QBs!

Personally I find Collinsworth quite complimentary of the Steelers and my wife commonly states she thinks he loves the Steelers

Personally I think when the Steelers do good he says so when they don’t do good he says so

But true, we know who these guys are. They like to throw the ball to the wrong team.

Yep, you're still not making sense. Did he propose this trade or otherwise suggest that Johnson was Pickens equal? Did he say that all #1 receivers were at the same talent level? Again, explain to me how a QB losing their top receiver does not affect their own play?

I'm saying that not all #1 WR are anything like GP. And yes you can read his comment like that. So that's why I said trade a #1 for another #1 and let him know how that works out for wilson..... there's about 5 receivers around today that could make freak plays to bail a QB out like that. 3 major plays is a wow.

Furthermore another reason the comment is stupid is look at Rodgers. He gets a better WR and still performs the same.

Patrick mahomes had juju and rice taken away throughout this season, and still performs the same, except for the niners game.

Statistically, this is Mahomes worst season, a career low 247 yards a game with only 6 TDs. Also has 6 picks. If he continues that trajectory of TD/Int it will be the worst of his career.

Not having good WR’s matters. Doesn’t mean Mahomes isnt still the best, they are still undefeated but not having the best around him will naturally affect his numbers.

Again, he's performing the same this season with and without his top two WR.

Anyhow my point was/is don't try to downgrade pickens as being like the rest of WR around the league.
