LoL. For someone that made multiple threads about how they shouldn't start Wilson.....this was a strange response from you. I don't remember making a thread saying I was correct. Think about that for a minute. That's all I'll say about it.

If I'm being honest, it was the deep ball where I thought he would shine. None of them were thrown great but as I said in the game day thread, at least he's willing to throw it up and let his receivers go get it. I think Fields was just too apprehensive and afraid to make a mistake. Still, he's going to have to get more accurate with those because Pickens won't always be able to bail him out. I'm guessing that part of his game will get better after a few games under his belt. He definitely has more touch on his throws, that's for sure.

I was concerned going in to this game that Russ' mobility was going to be a problem. That wasn't the case. There were some times he might have been able to run for some good yardage but I thought he would be a sitting duck and he wasn't.

I will say this, at least two of those deep throws could have ended up either being picked or at the very least be incomplete. Does that change the conversation today? Yes, you can say he's at least giving his guys opportunities but he's also taking more risks than Fields. I'm guessing we should prepare ourselves for the possibility that Wilson has a multi interception game. Fans are going to have to be alright with that given the risk/reward of the deep ball.

I don’t think there was ever any doubt who the better passer is at least right now. I thought behind this OL and our WR corp Russ would struggle but he moved better than I thought and played a solid game. He got some bounces but overall he played well. I hope he can keep it up because I’ll be much more optimistic if he looks like this the next few games. Being able to play under center is a big advantage in AS offense as well.

I knew we would get a comment like this. The guy hasn't played an NFL game in like 300 days. Give it some time before you throw him under the bus. The point some fans were making was that this team will not win any meaningful games without some kind of passing game. You don't win big games playing it safe and taking no risks. No risk no reward.

Kaboly said it shows Tomlin didnt trust Fields to operate the offense like that. I would also add Pickett to that.

IMO, if a QB is going to lose his job you shouldn’t handcuff him with a bad game plan. Fields and Picket should have both been allowed to air it out.

Agreed. That is an underestimated part of the advantage of having Wilson at quarterback.

Wilson did get some bounces his way, such as the deflected ball Pickens caught early in the third quarter, but he also had bad breaks such as the early drop by Austin and the pass interference/tangled feet that kept him from throwing a touchdown pass to Jefferson.

I’m not familiar with that phrase relative to a joke and neither was Google

    But I get your drift

But I like jokes particularly dry or subtle ones

My two cents on last night's game is that going back to fully healthy Ben and not yet crazy AB an opponent had to respect the passing game and couldn't stack the box.

Meanwhile, Muth is talking about the great move Russ made on that play, telling him he saw the corner grab his arm coming off the line of scrimmage so he put some extra air under it to give Muth the chance to make the play.

Right but the problem is, none of us will ever know what conversations were had between Fields, Tomlin, and Arthur Smith. It's hard to tell if they didn't want Fields throwing those jump balls and deep passes or if he was just too scared to pull the trigger on them for fear of turning the ball over.

The big difference we will see between Fields and Wilson is more guys getting targets, they had 4 pass plays of 30 or more yards against the Jets. I'm sure Wilson is allowed to change the plays when teams are stacking the box.

I changed the clip, people too focused on the header. I posted to highlight the lack of accuracy because I heard a lot about how much more accurate he is than Fields and don’t think Fields even threw one that bad. Then several other errant passes that Pickens and Muth bailed him out on. Could have been a very different outcome last night.

They run basically the same dang plays. Fields didn't trust Fields. Have some of You forgot about all the deep shots Fields missed?

You need to go back to statement and re-read it. Then think about what you just said in this reply
