I'll do it.....for many of the poasters here who spent hours trashing Russ last week and the entire off-season.

Yes - he was rusty early.

But the incessant trashing of him was unnecessary. He is not some over the hill old fart. There is some juice left in the tank.

Tomlin and Khan are not complete fools.

there - I said your apology.

NO ONE here said he was the 2nd coming of Ben or Tom Brady or Johnny Unitas. He was brought in to not make critical mistakes, to manage a pretty good roster and throw some TD passes.

He did that last night, with a PATCH WORK oline that played HARD.

We all know where the $$ was spent this offseason - on Defense. The season is still young. STAY TUNED!!!

GREAT DEBUT Russ, Welcome to Pittsburgh!!!

You know it's one game. We've seen great performances from guys like Mason and Rudolph before. There were some incredible catches made on poorly thrown balls. So good for the Steelers!!! But I'm going to withhold any giddiness at this point

he was rusty - he did underthrow a number of passes. Pickens is a BEAST. threw at SAUCE all night, after they said no one dared to for weeks. Pickens when focused can beat ANYONE in the game

Now we just need another thread from the 10 million people on this board that were saying Najee was done, and it was a good decision of the Steelers not to pickup Najee's $7 million option for next year.

Russ came out rusty turned it around to play well.

Stack as many wins as possible now.

It will be harder later with who we play.

It was literally the same game as the Raiders game. We looked bad to start, the the defense gifted the offense a few turnovers and they ended up capitalizing for TD's (one on a 1 yard drive). Not to mention the blocked kick... Beanie made a great play to keep us in it before the half, then we were gifted another one that should have been a big play for the Jets but ended up nearly becoming a pick 6. Defense and ST won the day for us and the offense did enough to ice it out at the end. Team effort two weeks in a row.

It surely felt like half our passing offense was throwing up low percentage balls to a covered Pickens, but hey, it worked last night. Pickens (and Muth) made some great catches. I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic. Russ didn't look particularly great, but he also didn't look totally trash. Hoping we either add elements that don't involve lots of low percentage throws, or just hoping that they keep ending in catches and not picks.
