    1. reid - elam S.................. either guy makes things happen at safety and we need one. either guy will make a difference back there. both are very good players.

    2. woods WR...................... nice compliment for what we have even if breaston comes in. precise route runner good hands receiver. elusiveness shows on the field. good all around receiver.

    3. gooden ILB..................... good speed and stregnth. will matchup well with timmons.

    4. gillisee RB...................... i can see what the steelers like about him. he is a quick cutting guy that should work well in the ZBS. he's run out of a pro set too. good in pass blocking and rec.

    5. washington OLB.............. great athlete for the position. a possible steal at this spot and won't have to start right away. strong and fast with size.

    6. stacy RB........................ our cupboard was pretty bare. stacy is a steal at this spot. alot of production from him against good competition in the SEC. we got two of the best RB coming out.

    7. stoneburner TE............... elusive TE and red zone target. creates mismatches and has good hands. good size and speed.

    7. smith OLB.................... quanterus showed he could rush the passer against good competition. sleeper pick here to fill the cupboards for the future. good size and upside.

linemen become a priority for UDFA's to fill backup roles on both lines.

I like most of it. i dont think we draft 2 rb's. i would swap wr at 2 with oline and then maybe get one later. i would be happy with it though. is washington cornelious from georgia cause i like him?

I like the players and where you slotted them except the 1st round. There's too many good prospects at safety to "reach" for one in the 1st. Just my opinion. Nice draft overall mac..

I was interested in Vaccaro in the 1st, but the more that I watch of him, the more I think he's right there in the pack with guys like Reid, Elam and possibly others that I haven't looked at in detail yet. I don't see a pick #17 there, but I see guys who could provide value in a trade-down scenario.

I am also reviewing a bunch of the WRs, and I'm starting to like a few guys more and more. Woods looks good - however I would point out that he rarely played the X position on the line of scrimmage, and that's really what we need. When I watch him, he is almost always lined up as the Y or the slot, and is able to get into his routes without being hit on the 1st step. A guy that I really like is Aaron Dobson from Marshall. He is an X receiver who should be able to handle a pressing corner. He has really good hands, and can make acrobatic catches while in contact with defenders. Good player. I also like DeAndre Hopkins a lot, and I think Chris Harper from K State can be a good value pick if he's there in the 5th.

i always did like harper. he's not real tall but he's built and can fight for balls. he's near 230. pretty fast. ex qb too. more of a hines ward but faster and bigger.

woods is smooth and has great hands.

as far as safties, the more i watch reid the more i think he fits in pittsburgh. i don't think he or elam is a big stretch at 17, since it fits a big need for us.

he or elam have a better game then the guys down from them. yes, it's deep at safety but the cream is at the top. you wait and you end up with the 4th or 5th safety.

we have to replace troy and clark which is a big request to start with, so getting the best one out there is a need. they won't step in here and start right away anyway, but this is the year it should happen with the pick. the backend of the defense can destroy our coverage and run staopping if it's not strong. we've seen that before. at least thats my thinking on it.

Quentarius Smith and Brandon Jenkins are my mid-round picks if we can't land that first round rush linebacker (ansah, jones, moore, etc..). Don't like safety in the first because the safety class is so deep, and so close together. Seriously think that a Rambo or Shamarko in the third is more value than a Reid or Elam in the first. Would be okay with woods in the second, but like safetys this seems to be a deep class for wr's.
And i honestly believe that if we can't land Lacy in the second, our best bet is Lattimore in the 4th or 5th.

these safties are not as close as one may first think. maybe in tier two they are closer, but just to throw a decent guy on the field as opposed to the top guys won't work out quite as well as some think. we are replacing two of the best that have been here in a long time. middle of the road guys will hurt us more then help us down the road. remember troy and clark won't be there to help, it will be our well they are all close in the 2nd or 3rd round guy leading our defense. some take this position for granted around here. we are spoiled. why would we think just anyone could come in here and replace these two? we better get a very good one because he is our future.
