Honestly, I'm a little bit concerned about Antonio Brown's attitude after getting the huge payday.

I wonder if maybe that contributed a little bit to Mike Wallace's (alleged) animosity.

I was in Latrobe this Summer and Antonio was really hot dogging it. Really playing to the crowd (which can be perceived as good or bad). While everybody else was stretching, he was standing up, pointing to the crowd, and grinning. He would point to one section of the crowd and they would cheer. Then he'd point to another part of the crowd and they would then cheer. He was beaming and everybody was laughing. It was fun. However . . .

Imagine being Mike Wallace . . . You just got stood up at the altar. The $42-million long-term deal you thought was yours just went to this guy. A quiet, focused, young guy. And now he's walking around like he's the King of Pittsburgh. Sending his receivers gloves up into the stands, playing to the crowd while everyone else is working . . . how would you feel? I think I might be a little plssed off, to be honest.

Antonio Brown went from a quiet young dude to a brash, extrovert. Walking around camp like he was Willie Mays Hayes in Major League.

Hopefully, a mediocre season in which he's being openly criticized in the media will humble him a bit.

As others have implied, I have ZERO sympathy for wallace. the Steelers offered him $50 million and he blew it off! Brown had proven he was a solid WR, hopefully he refocuses a little bit more this year!

Everybody keeps trying to make that point while quoting me when, in fact, I have no sympahty for Wallace either.

I am EMpathetic (I UNDERSTAND why he'd be plssed). I'm not SYMpathetic.

I'm not EMpathetic that he played poorly and drove his market value down because he chose to respond poorly to what happened financially and allow it to affect the performance of himself and his team on the field so, for that, hasta lasagna, #17.

I don't blame AB for taking the money. I don't blame the Steelers for offering it to him. I don't blame Wallace for feeling slighted. All three reactions made sense. But have led to the current situation.

Wallace is peeved and will leave, since the inferior WR got the money, AB is strutting peacock since he got the money as the inferior WR. The Steelers who looked clever last yr, now have the worst of all worlds. But now they'll lose their best WR. Funny how things work our.

I highly doubt that AB is the inferior receiver. As a matter of fact, I outright reject that notion.

Someone will have to explain to me how AB is not the inferior WR. Catches? Wallace got 2 less than AB this yr, but 3 more the yr before. Yards? Wallace has more than AB every yr. TDs? Wallace had more last yr than AB has totaled in 3. If anything, Wallace's downfield style makes things easier for AB than the other way around. They are the same age (AB is one month younger). So how is AB better? AB contributes on special teams, true, but were talking WR skills here.

Maybe Wallace is lazy, maybe he doesn't try as hard as AB, maybe he's more of a me first guy than AB (though that's debatable). But Wallace, despite that is still undisputably more productive.

Funny, when it became clear the Steelers were not going to sign Wallace last yr and he was going to be a FA, how all of a sudden the fan base went to great lengths to convince itself that Wallace wasn't that good. But he is their best WR and he will be missed when he leaves,

All that does matter you know. As for production, how many times was Wallace targeted and how many times was AB targeted? I'm sure Wallace saw the ball come his way more often, that will give him an advantage in productivity, he was a favorite target of Bens. Give AB the same opportunity as a number #1 and you'll see his numbers go up too.

How many times were they targeted? Last 2yrs, Wallace 232 targets, 136 catches Brown 228 targets 135 catches. Not much difference. It's not like Wallace has had a ton more of balls thrown his way. He's getting 2 more tosses a season.

So from that, why do you think it's so unfathomable that people would pick AB over Wallace? Especially after what Wallace did this past season and the disruption he caused? It's not like you are comparing Jerry Rice to AB. The way you are acting, I thought Wallace blew him away in stats. Even before this season, when Wallace fell out of favor with me, I was still saying on this board that I thought AB was a better receiver.

Here's the unfathomable part: They both get about the same number of catches, with about the same numer of targets. Except one gets more yds than the other, waaaaay more TDs than the other, has done it for 4yrs instead of 2 at the same age, yet people insist that this does not evidence the superior WR!

AB:
2011: 1108 yds 2 TD's
2012: 787 yds 5 TD's

Wallace:
2011: 1193 yds 8 TD's
2012: 836 yds 8 TD's

Not so lopsided. Keep in mind that 2011 was AB's first season he started actually seeing the field.

When you figure in mentality, AB is so much better for this team then Wallace is. What I am insisting is that they are close enough in stats that it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that people would choose AB over Wallace. He's the better more complete receiver in my eye's.

Oh you forgot, he also runs back punts, lets relieve
him of those duties and let him concentrate on WR duties and could be studying
on the sidelines for the next offensive possesion. He is just to valuable as a receiver for
much more special teams play. We cannot afford to have him injured.
