The Pitt D really showed up yesterday. Keep in mind Cal racked up 38 pts against the #5 ranked Miami Hurricanes last week and should have beat them. Cal's kicker should be Pitt's player of the game. The plethora of penalties were a gift as well. But, no apologies needed. I'm thinking though that Syracuse will be a problem next Thursday - always a tough game to figure, just like WVU. HTP!

It may come crumbling apart and still many teams with better possibilities, but PSU and Pitt both in the 12 team playoffs? That would be pretty amazing.

They were talking about him on the PA sports network. Sadly the issue may come down to NIL money and who may make the best offer, transfer portal makes recruiting an endless nitemare for coach's trying to build a successful program.

I can get behind PSU,,but it's hard for me to take Pitt seriously yet with the schedule they have played. The 1st ranked team they will face will be SMU, and the only team SMU has faced that was ranked...beat them. So.....

If you've followed them at all the past several years (other than KP's last year) they have been very inconsistent and because they play on Tomlin's home turf, they lost several games to very inferior schools. (LOL). This year they have been finding bizarre ways to win week after week. This is very un-Narzuzzi like so at least it's refreshing while it lasts. Next Thursdays game against Syracuse will be telling since Syr has a top QB and receiving corp which Pitt has been susceptible to this year. Having 6 wins already means they at least will be eligible for the Tidy Bowl bowl game. :lolol:

I'm not trying to down them at all. I'm just saying I don't have as much faith in them as I do PSU.....because of who I've watched them play. That's all. I hope they do well.

Indeed the ACC is not strong at all, PSU has that feel good until OSU comes to town. They may surprise, but OSU's depth is going to take them far, the loss to Oregon was not necessarily a fluke but given that same situation 10 times OSU probably takes 5 +.

Got it. Not to mention the few lifer Pitt fans here always have trepidation about Pitt FB teams. That said - they have some fun players to watch this year, which is refreshing, especially at QB. Ironically they have produced some amazing RBs and WRs over the years that translated well in the pros and a handful of 3rd string NFL QBs (not named Marino). Not sure they could ever beat Penn State if/when they meet.

If Ben didn't make that great pass to win our last SB a Pitt grad would have beaten us with his receiving TD.

I totally agree. That's why I said I don't have faith in them. They can probably make the playoffs this way, but then what???
A bunch of teams they face will be loaded.

I guess that's why rooting for Pitt or the Pirates is so easy because they are perennially such heavy underdogs in the overall scheme of things.

He had an OK game last night with 1 INT reversed because of a penalty but it certainly was the D that played lights out with surgical precision against a top QB and offense in the nation. That was a clinic extraordinaire. Not sure what else the O would have accomplished last night if they had more chances (D kept the ball away from them - LOL) That's 2 weeks in a row that the O hasn't been as stellar as they were with weaker opponents. Hopefully they find a balance and don't have to rely completely on either the O or D to bail out the team. Sure liking "Better Call Saul" as the kicker. Looks like Boz has rubbed off on him.

    Still not sold. LoL.
Hell My Razorbacks are undefeated against no ranked teams also,,but are only 4-3 thanks to teams like number 8 LSU, and number 14 Texas A&M, and we still have to play...number 18 Ole Miss, number 5 Texas, and number 21 Missouri. I'm not downing Pitt, and If it sounds like I am....forgive me, but they still haven't played one ranked team yet.

Agree about not playing anyone so far and it's so true - reason us Pitt loyalists are semi-giddy is because typically they would have found a way to lose half of the games they've already played, regardless of the opposition. It seems that whenever the Pitt BB or FB is ranked it somehow goes to their heads and they fall flat. We've seen it way too many times over the years when there wasn't a player named Dorsett or Marino on the team. We're just enjoying it while it lasts and will take it one week/game at a time. Pitt has played a good spoiler beating highly ranked West Virginia, Clemson and Miami in the past 11 years when they themselves had very average teams. One of my favorite games of all time was when Lou Holtz coached your Razr's and he suspended several top players on the eve of a major bowl game and ended up winning. That was exciting.

PS - corrected "their" to "there".
