The coaching staff see both of them every day in classroom and field practice

The coaches will put the player on the field who gives them the best chance to win

They are starting Russel Wilson Sunday

    That says it all

    It's really that simple

If he gets sacked 5 times, team chemistry will be a problem.

Sooner we can get Russ out there, the sooner we can get to KFA. :herewego:

There are not many teams that are going to be interested in Wilson or Fields. Most teams have their QB1 or QB of the future. Plus there will be 3 or 4 rookies coming in which will further limit their markets. If Wilson plays very well, he probably gets $25m from the Steelers. If he plays game manager and gets the Steelers to the playoffs, he probably gets $15-$20m offer from Steelers. Fields will be lucky to get $5m a year, unless an OC sees him as a Lamar-lite.

And those realistic numbers the Steelers could keep both of them if need be

Wilson has no excuses. Go out there and win. He's playing behind the same line with the same receivers as Fields. He should be able to find open guys. Isn't it a little strange though that in one thread fans complain about the receiver group being trash outside of Pickens, yet in another we're discussing all these wide open guys Fields keeps missing. Seems to me that the supposed separation issue might have been blown out of proportion. Wilson should be able to do some damage with the guys currently on the roster. Not including the fact that the Steelers may still go get another wr.

Here’s another thought the WRs besides Pickens, who is a borderline head case, stink!

    Van Jefferson??? CA3???? GTFO

I know the all 22 in 10X slow motion showed them open for a split second

Those numbers actually seem reasonable, if the CAP goes up a bit the numbers might as well, each brings a different aspect and it really depends on where the team ends up, the level of QB play and how the big wigs see the team in the future. I think Fields has shown he is coachable, but can the things he needs to correct get him to the level to be a quality starting QB (not even talking elite, but more than serviceable), no doubt he is athletic, but raw in so many areas.

it is multiple issues, line play, Fields can't read or see the field, the WR are not open, often can't hit when they are. It's not a complaint, just what we see and though I hope bringing Russ in brings a different level of action, it also brings some added issues.

True. Has there been any word on his injury? I haven't read anything about it yet.

I watched the coach film and saw Pickens open a few times and Washington on one of Fields check downs. So it's true he does not see the field as well as he should.

That is a solid point. We keep hearing about all of these open receivers that are seen on a video pointed out when you can replay it and slow it down. Anybody with half a brain could realize it's much harder to find those open windows during live action with defensive lineman breathing down your neck. I'm not necessarily sticking up for Fields because I do agree that he doesn't read defenses well and he's probably missing some legitimately "NFL open" receivers but for whatever reason he is not pulling the trigger if he does see them. In my opinion though, I would rather have him hold on to the ball and make a safer throw than to make a throw he doesn't trust himself with and end up turning the ball over. My overall point being that it's much easier for couch potatoes and YouTube quarterbacks to see these open receivers on the all 22 than it is during live action. Being able to see those openings and anticipate them and make the throws is what makes a good to great NFL quarterback. Justin Fields does not have those traits.

And you keep acting like improving means you can’t make a bad pass.

Im not ignoring anything, it’s just pointless, hes never played a snap.

My guy out here trying to polish Wilsons 150 yard turds. See! His turd is so much prettier than Fields turd!

Meanwhile Fields has 10 TDs in 6 games which would average out to about 30 if they weren’t stupid and let him continue to play.

For those who think they should keep playing Fields this season to see what they have, the coaches have been watching him day in and day out since mid March, 7 months.

Maybe/apparently they have already seen what they have.

Agree or disagree but they are clearly not satisfied.

they have a short week. The more they have to try to prepare for the less time they have to cover all things. Not seeing Russell in this offense can also create problems. Then they still have to cover fields and try to figure what we may bring with him as well. This won't be a typical week of prep for them for all these reasons. Add that they are on the road.

You do realize they watched MT and MR last year and they thought MT was the best backup?

The line went from +2 1/2 to -2 1/2 after Davante Adams trade I guess he’s gonna be blocking on the offensive line
