He said Brown needs to shut up after going on ESPN last week. He wondered if they paid Brown too soon and blamed him for the losses to Dallas and the Raiders with his fumbles. He said Brown needs to step up and be a #1 receiver and stop showboating like he did in the Redskins game running backwards to the endzone. I don't know how to post the link.

Honestly, I'm a little bit concerned about Antonio Brown's attitude after getting the huge payday.

I wonder if maybe that contributed a little bit to Mike Wallace's (alleged) animosity.

I was in Latrobe this Summer and Antonio was really hot dogging it. Really playing to the crowd (which can be perceived as good or bad). While everybody else was stretching, he was standing up, pointing to the crowd, and grinning. He would point to one section of the crowd and they would cheer. Then he'd point to another part of the crowd and they would then cheer. He was beaming and everybody was laughing. It was fun. However . . .

Imagine being Mike Wallace . . . You just got stood up at the altar. The $42-million long-term deal you thought was yours just went to this guy. A quiet, focused, young guy. And now he's walking around like he's the King of Pittsburgh. Sending his receivers gloves up into the stands, playing to the crowd while everyone else is working . . . how would you feel? I think I might be a little plssed off, to be honest.

Antonio Brown went from a quiet young dude to a brash, extrovert. Walking around camp like he was Willie Mays Hayes in Major League.

Hopefully, a mediocre season in which he's being openly criticized in the media will humble him a bit.

    Hopefully . . .

Mike Wallace has only Mike Wallace to blame and be angry at. However, being the way he is I have no doubt he was mad at Brown while missing the fact that it was his own f--cking fault.

I don't see a single thing wrong with how Brown was acting at camp, he was playing to the crowd, good for him. As for his hot dogging in the Redskins game, he didn't do it again so I'm guessing he learned his lesson. The only thing I want to see from Brown is holding onto the football, I have no other problem with him what so ever. Wallace can piss off though, can't wait till he is out of here.

I loved it at the time. But it's funny how an off-year can change a perception. As long as he's performing, that's awesome. I actually posted this last Summer from Latrobe. I was concerned perhaps his ego was getting bigger than his ability. Turns out, he didn't back it up. When you're not living up to a huge contract, it's best you just go about your business. Hot dog after the season on the podium.

Yeah, Wallace needs to go. I wasn't defending him. I was just saying that, with reports of some animosity this past season, I can UNDERSTAND how Wallace could have been aggravated about the situation. And, yes, Wallace has only himself to blame.

I remember you posting this, actually. I guess if AB had gone to pull a hamstring we could criticise him more...

I also think its interesting that AB didn't ever repeat his silliness with the running backwards into the endzone. You have to imagine someone picked him up for that - I wonder who (in an entirely innocent, simply-out-of-interest way)?

How many Team Mvp's did Wallace win?
As coach Cliche has said, Mike wallace is a one trick PONY.

I've kind of felt the same way. My wife and I used to talk about how modest AB seemed in his interviews and with his play style, but there were several times last season that sort of made me start to think differently. I hope, as someone else mentioned, that he learned a lesson.

Well Mike Wallace didn't have to see any of this happen in Latrobe because he didn't come to camp!! And yea Antonio Brown got paid, but Wallace was offered a contract of 50 million and he turned it down...Thats his fault. The steelers were not going to let both of them walk, so we got atleast one signed.

I actually took several pictures and video of him hamming it up at Latrobe. It was funny as hell and it was awesome and you WANT player interaction with the fans in Latrobe . . . until . . . he didn't deliver during the regular season (on a $42million contract).

I'm probably in the minority here as most want Heath Miller to just flip the ball in the end zone and act like he's been there before. I dig Billy White Shoes Johnson, Butch Johnson, Ernest Givins, The Fun Bunch, Sweetness High-Stepping, Deon doing his shuffle into the end zone . . . I'm all over those things. Love it! As long as they're producing. Don't Anthony Smith-it at Carolina after you make the first pick of your life while running your mouth and getting torched by Brady.

It's bravado when you're producing and it's annoying when you're not. I love the bravado as long as you back it up.

I don't blame AB for taking the money. I don't blame the Steelers for offering it to him. I don't blame Wallace for feeling slighted. All three reactions made sense. But have led to the current situation.

Wallace is peeved and will leave, since the inferior WR got the money, AB is strutting peacock since he got the money as the inferior WR. The Steelers who looked clever last yr, now have the worst of all worlds. But now they'll lose their best WR. Funny how things work our.

I highly doubt that AB is the inferior receiver. As a matter of fact, I outright reject that notion.

No, they will lose their fastest WR, their best is still on the team.

I also really enjoy the celebrations. I think it's funny when guys get creative with them. My all time favorite was when Gronkowski acted like a british soldier in England this year and then spiked the crap out of it. For some reason that just cracked me up because he looked like a nutcracker toy or something.

Someone will have to explain to me how AB is not the inferior WR. Catches? Wallace got 2 less than AB this yr, but 3 more the yr before. Yards? Wallace has more than AB every yr. TDs? Wallace had more last yr than AB has totaled in 3. If anything, Wallace's downfield style makes things easier for AB than the other way around. They are the same age (AB is one month younger). So how is AB better? AB contributes on special teams, true, but were talking WR skills here.

Maybe Wallace is lazy, maybe he doesn't try as hard as AB, maybe he's more of a me first guy than AB (though that's debatable). But Wallace, despite that is still undisputably more productive.

Funny, when it became clear the Steelers were not going to sign Wallace last yr and he was going to be a FA, how all of a sudden the fan base went to great lengths to convince itself that Wallace wasn't that good. But he is their best WR and he will be missed when he leaves,

I've said this before, but if Wallace had 4.5 speed instead of 4.25 speed, he'd be trying his best to get off someone's practice squad. Speed is his only exceptional skill set. He is mediocre to below average in ALL other areas.

All that does matter you know. As for production, how many times was Wallace targeted and how many times was AB targeted? I'm sure Wallace saw the ball come his way more often, that will give him an advantage in productivity, he was a favorite target of Bens. Give AB the same opportunity as a number #1 and you'll see his numbers go up too.

Whereas AB has great hands, crisp routes, and contributes in multiple phases of the game which also no doubt played a hand in his getting signed. Also AB spent some time injured this year so it's hard to consider this years stats as truly representative of his talents. Don't get me wrong though because AB stunk up the joint this year for sure. I still say that based on the overall picture if the Steelers had waited to sign AB til after this season and had to choose between him or Wallace I still think they choose AB and as long as the Rooney's agree with me I can live with that. I mean if the Rooney's have a chance to keep Wallace and don't but DO keep AB then I think that speaks volumes of who is the inferior guy. AB is not perfect but he is more complete than Wallace will EVER be.

I look for AB to have a bounce back season this year. His season will exceed Wallace's with his new team. But the sportswriter referenced in the OP is correct, AB does need to keep his trap shut!
