RIP Dikembe Mutombo - age 58, brain cancer. I can't hear his name without thinking of the finger wag. 2nd all time in blocks behind Olajuwon.

Holy crap I missed his passing. I guess that’s why I haven’t seen him filling up the rolls in a bit

RIP Pete Rose. IMO should be in HOF. Hated him in the 70's. I sat at TRS and watched him and his damn Red Machine break my heart in the Playoffs.

Frank Fritz, the short bearded Mutt of the Mutt and Jeff guys on American Pickers passed away. He was always on the hunt for classic motorcycles in old barns and warehouses. Enjoyed watching this show and the weird stuff they'd find and how so many of the old hoarders they visited wouldn't part with much of their stuff. RIP. Fun times.

Ah T. Roberts. There was a few moments in that movie that I paused enough that made the VHS tape not so good in certain spots. LoL

While little chance of winning the Cy Young and obviously no chance of being in the WS, there were rookie stat comparisons between Paul Skenes and Fernando - rookie starters in All Star Game, Rookie of the Year (Skenes has one version in the bag already but not the big one yet), plus ERA, strikeout rate etc. Not to mention both bringing an abundance of fans to ballparks around the country, no matter where they pitched.

Some interesting rookie year stat comparisons - noting that while FV pitched in 2 games in 1980, 1981 was considered his rookie year, a MLB strike shortened year:

    Games started: FV - 25; PS - 23
    Innings pitched: FV - 192 1/3; PS - 133
    W/L: FV - 13-7; PS - 11-3
    ERA: FV - 2.48; PS - 1.96
    K's: FV - 180; PS - 170
    K's/Inn: FV - 0.94; PS - 1.28

Of note, FV did have 11 complete games but that was a different pre-analytics era. All in all, Skenes stacks up very well against the great Fernando. :thumbs up: for both gentlemen.

I remember Johnny Weissmuller more as Tarzan. He also won 5 Olympic Gold Medals in swimming. Both were very cool dudes. RIP
