TE position

Colbert said yesterday that Miller might not be ready for the beginning of the season, will likely start on the PUP list, and he is unsure after that. Paulson looked good last year, but this seems to be a bigger deal because of the lack of depth behind him. With Pope playing a negligible role last year, and with little depth behind Paulson, this begs the question: why, oh why, did they let Saunders go and keep Pope?

 

Well they didn't know Heath was gonna get hurt. But man if Heath is out for any period of time we are really gonna suffer. He is such an invaluable piece of our offense and ESPECIALLY under Haley.

 

I doubt anyone on this board knows exactly why they kept Pope over Saunders.

 

My guess is they didn't trust him. Not on the field, but off of it. I think they believed he lied to them. If he did that, you are surely going to be let go. I think the only reason Ta'amu is still here is because he owned up to his mistake, didn't try to deflect it, and took the blame. It is IMO the only reason he survived.

Yea Saunders had that 4 game suspension for violating the league drug policy or something. For some reason I think there was more to that then any of us knew. Then as soon as the suspension was up, he was gone.

 

Maybe we can just call the Colts back and be like "uhh there's been a mistake and we're gonna need our TE back. But you can have Pope though." LOL.

 

I would not count Heath out to be kept off of the PUP list and make his return in the first few games.
